| Thought I would give the first day standings.
DAY ONE - Sept 15, very windy, very rainy all day. extremely hard to fish.
The results were 8 fish caught.
Here is the Live Leader Board Link:

The leaders have a 51 and a 49.75.
End day one. Blowing fiercely.

| "Simply" awesome.
Bob Benson ("muskie bob" ) and Fred Hirsch (makes Ghosttails) in the lead.
Muskie Bob has a cabin next door to my buddy's on Vermillion and he's a great great guy. he's been exceedingly generous giving my buddy tips, spots to fish, and taking him out fishing - and i've benefitted from it through my friend. and believe me - there are few out there who know that water as well as this team does.
the first time i got to meet Bob (last fall), he had Fred up fishing with him...which explained Bob's favorite bucktail choices! they both gave us lots of info and their tips put us on fish.
i hope they take it all - it would truly be a case of good things happening to good people.
great news.

Location: WI - Land of small muskies and big jawbones | I'm not surprised at the leaders. Bob is a hell of a fishermen and knows the lake well. Hes also about as friendly a guy you will ever meet. I figured this team was going to turn a lot of heads there. Cool! |

| I heard there were no fish caught in Big bay yesterday due to the wind, expect alot of fish today from the teams that fish the east end. |

Congrats to Bob and Fred, two great guys and great fishermen. I am sure they still don't feel comfortable yet.
The other teams can double up too, and erase that lead in a blink. Bob has been on BIG fish all summer, I know
he has a few others over 50" including a 55" in August. This team has as good a chance as anyone.
As the wind let's up, the east end rocks will start to produce. This will get interesting on Friday.
Good Luck to everyone!

Any info on what areas did the teams fish ?
With the big wind did most go deep into the Head of the weedy West ? or mill around the middle water with none venturing into the Far East - the land of the rising rock ?
The weather looked to be my typical Vermilion fishing conditions, brutal, why am I trying to stand in 2-4's with wind blowing, driving cold rain and the granite is threatening me. HEY !!! Fish ON !!!! SWEET get the camera out !
If it was'nt for bad weather, I would'nt have any weather.

| I have very sad news that my good friend ACE's father passed away.
He and his partner Musky Tom are tring to keep their spirits up.
ACE is gonna keep with the tournament and I am sure do his very best knowing the circumstances.
I know him well. He'll pump those lures well and if it doesn't go their way he will have tried.
not sure what I or anyone else would do in his situation.
I know when i lost my mom 10 years ago I probly would not have been a very good fisherman.
but everyone does different things their own way and handles things different. I do know this-
my mom would have wanted me to fish, play football or whatever the situation and do the best i could.
please keep him and his family and partner in your thoughts as the days go by.
he is a great person and friend and will do his best.

| If they keep this pace up, only 21 teams or less will make it to Saturday. If the weather stays bad, it might only take one fish to get there. Everybody is still in it. |
|

|
| i should also request if you have time, send terry a email wishing the best. im sure he could use some good wishes agfter he gets off the lake.
GO TEAM GRUNGE!!!!!!!

Location: Lafayette, IN | Terry is a great guy. My son and I have only fished with him twice but he really taught us a bundle and treated us so nicely. We also corresponded throughout the year via e-mail. That's a classy thing to do when you're a busy person and well known guide like he seems to be. His family is in our prayers here in Indiana.
