Hello Musky Men,
Over here in The UK there's been a lot of debate in recent years over the effect (or not) the moon has on fishing. My results over the last couple of years indicate that more BIG Pike are caught on or around New moon & Full moon. Several leading British Pike anglers say this is all nonsense & the moon has no influence. So what's the opinion in the US? Does the moon have an effect or am i mad?

3 days before or after the full or new moon has an impact, and all of my big fish have come during the full moon window!

Check out www.primetimes2.com. It is the most accurate I have found to date.

I copmpared a 12 year guiding results log against the Knight
Solunar Tables and found that the times when the fish were the most active were very close to the Solunar major and Minor periods. The weather can really mess up an activity period, and many of the really big fish caught were during the times in-between the solunar minor or major. These cahrts indicate the top activity periods during each day and night, taking into consideration the sun/moon/earth relationships.
I'll take good conditions in the weather, good water temps so I can get at the fish and the fish are active, and good conditions for the structure I fish combined with a Solunar major, and not care a whit what phase the moon is in. My 2 cents!
