On the Woods outing, I noticed a white thing hanging off the hook of a bucktail after releasing a fish.It was a piece of skin with about a 3/4" tooth .That night, the Dude and I did a little experiment. We took a couple superlines and wanted to see if the sharp edge of this tooth was sharp enough to cut the line.Like Butta. The thing had an absolute razor edge.Food for thought. I had a buddy show me a bait a couple of weeks ago that had teeth burried in it. I never had that happen, but find alot of teeth on the bottom of my boat when cleaning it out for winterizing each year. I bet they lose teeth alot more frequently than we imagine.

I suppose, if we chomped down on a piece of hardwood at 30 mph, we lose choppers too.

Line tests have clearly demonstrated the very poor abrasion resistance of braided lines. Mono on the other hand is very good, particularly some brands. The test I read had Stren Clear Blue as the top contender for "abrasion" resistance. This line only test in the middle however for "tension" strength. After fishing with a braided line like Power Pro though I couldn't imagine going back to "straight" mono, the stuff is just incredible. "Out west" in my part of the country we run straight braid for salmon and steelhead, works great. For larger species such as sturgeon which often run over 200 pounds we will run braid with a mono front.

Jonesi, dude, I hope you still have that thing. That is some serious possible mojo. Put it on a necklace, do the mojo dance, it could work wonders.

Talking about teeth.

About six years ago or so I found a dead 48" fish on Minoqua, pulled it into the boat and pulled the teeth out.

I saved them for the day I could get a replica and now they are in the Fittante 50.5" on my wall.

Cool to know they are real teeth.

They show up stuck in baits sometime, or you just find them someplace in the boat. Sharp and dangerous just the way we like them!

I got a sharp stab in a bare toe one time out Muskie fishing. It hurt so bad I thought I had stepped on a hook. It was a tooth lying on the carpet from the last muskie release.

the crazy thing about it was that the line was 100lb spiderwire stealth. we should try it again with 100lb flouro and see what happens. bet it would hold up better.
