Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | My son, who was my regular fishing partner for many years, moved down to Kenosha last year. This summer, due to house hunting and a busy work schedule, he has only gotten up a handful of days this year. He and his wife came up to visit Friday nite til Sunday afternoon. After listining to his work frustrations Fri. nite, I suggested a days fishing was in order and his wife agreed he needed to get out. Sat. morning we headed up to the Mercer area. The first lake I picked was a pretty little lake that has usually been good for numbers for us in the past. 10 to 4 gave us 3 low 30's ski's and a few bonus pike, just what the doctor ordered! Then we loaded up, headed to Mercer for an ice cream break. Then off to another small lake that I knew harbored a chance at a little better size. From 5 til 6:30 things were quiet, then the fish started moving. We probably had 8 follows in the next hour, but couldn't get any thing to commit. At 7:45 I started picking up things in the boat as it was getting pretty dark by then. My son kept casting a Top Raider that he "borrowed" from my box. As I stood and watched him retrieve it down a wide opening in the reeds, we both saw a large wake come from 20 feet from the side. There was no stopping this fish. It came full bore, tail out of the water, and t-boned the TR. After a beautiful, water clearing jump, and a few power runs she was in the net. A few quick pics and she was swimming away, none the worse for wear. His personal best---a 45 1/2 " fatty. On the drive home, I never heard a single word about work. I think the medicine worked. The only problem is, I lost a lure, but it was worth it.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I bet if everyone spent more time like that and less stressing out, we'd ALL be better off. Muskie fishing with a friend, best medicine. My sons, who are also very good friends and I have discovered the same thing!
