I have a musky in my pond and I want to transport him to a local lake. I've looked at shopko for large plastic bins but none of them are big enought. Any thoughts>???

That is possibly illegal, check with your DNR to be sure it's ok. Then use one of the big plastic clothes bins with the snap on lids that one can buy at the chain stores like Wal Mart, and use water from the pond to move the fish.

Don't forget to add a very strong aerator hooked to a 12 volt--can buy them for 20$ at Wal-Mart.....

I don't think there's anything "possible" about it. That's illegal, period. What if your musky has some disease like a fungal disease which you wouldn't notice from looking at it which you now introduce to the whole lake population of fish? This is simply a very bad idea. Kill the fish if you don't want it in the pond, or find another private pond owner who will take the fish. Putting it in a public waterway shouldn't even be considered as an option.

How come the strongest opinions always come from an anonymous "Guest" ? Hmm

I agree like Worral however, it probably not be legal. Most areas would not allow the moving of fish from one body of water to another. Have a litle contest for the local kids .

Use the livewell on your boat.
Bucket the pond water in to it if you have to.

But why do you want him out of your pond?

Keeep the small fish in check.

Check with your DNR to determine legality and whether the idea is appropriate.  Even if you cannot transport the fish legally, you may find the DNR wants the fish for a public "live" display.

You can get a stocking permit from theDNR for this.

Also, I would think about having the DNR to come and get it and let them decide what to do with it. - Gerard
