Location: Germantown, WI | I just returned from our yearly trip to Lower Buckhorn Lake in the Kawartha region of Ontario. We've been going there for about 24 years now and the fishing is as good today as it ever was if not better. What a fantastic week of musky fishing. Between my Dad, Brother and myself we boated 30 muskies for the week. That included 9 over 40" including: (5) 40 ", (1) 41", (2) 43", and (1) 45". My best was a 43" caught while casting a Blk/Wht Harrasser with Glow blade after dark. My brother's best fish was a 45" caught while casting a Wizzie Tail Skunktail with Nickle blade and Dad's best fish (lifetime best) was a 43" on large Rizzo Wiz in Blk with a nickle blade. All of our biggest fish came on the deep weedlines in 12-14' of water. We caught fish on bucktails, jerkbaits, minnowbaits, and topwaters and all fish were caught casting. The only thing that could have made the trip better would have been if one of us had popped a 50"er. We did lose one that may have gone 47-48", but the numbers of fish over 40" that were caught or seen was fantastic.
