Location: Illinois-Indiana | Had some time off & hit Webster at about 4:45 on Saturday evening with my son.
Water temp was 70-71 and water clarity was pretty good, about 4' or so.
We started out fishing the weedy flats and I noticed some bait fish out in about 22' of water so I set the boat up in about 25' and we started casting up to the breaks. First fish came on a Slammer drop belly glider in about 17' of water, a nice 39".
We couldn't get another to go so we started trolling.
I put the boat in 35' of water and let Jordan drive, I set out 3 lines, got the third line in the water and made him get out of my seat. I was making my way to the secondary break where we were marking all the baitfish when one of the lines went off, Jordan jumped up and landed a solid 36" in about 30' of water. We weren't trolling for more than 3 minutes.
Trolled for about an hour and decide to call it a night and get something to eat.
Sunday we hit the water at about 8:00am.
Started out on the weedy flats again and Jordan missed a little guy on a 7" Grandma. We raised about 6 fish for the morning and went in for some lunch. Got back out and did some trolling, same story as Saturday, we set out our lines and about 5 minutes in Jordan got a scrapy 33 1/2" in about 27' of water. Trolled for an hour and a half with no more action. We casted for a couple more hours and he lost another little guy on the same 7" Grandma. Raised about 15 fish all day and boated one trolling, I was glad he got to get "SLIMED" one more time before school starts.
We called it a day at about 5:00 and headed home.
I would post the pic's but don't want to get slammed about "ALL" the 30" fish that I catch.

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Very short report this week as I am very busy!!! Sorry!
Webster Report
Water Temps: Starting out in mid to high 60's getting low to mid 70's by afternoon.
Clarity: 4 feet and getting better
Lures: Weagle, Jackpot, Grey Ghost, Magic Makers
Saturday morning I met my client Mike at 5:00 am, got on the water and casting by 5:30. We headed to Webster and started off on the shallow flats entering Echo Bay. Keeping the boat in about 6-9 feet of water we both threw topwaters. Within about 15 mintues Mike had one come completely out of the water after his jackpot, a few minutes later he had another follow from a upper 30 inch fish. I was in the back of the boat throwing the Weagle. I can only use this lure for about 20 minutes, then it gets water logged since it is torn to pieces. I had 1 blow up and one follow on my orange weagle. I switched to a Jackpot when the Weagle became to water logged, and within about 4 minutes had a nice fish hump up and hit with aggression. After a brief fight, in the net was a nice 42.5 incher. Gorgeous fish, with no hook marks, or split fins, ect.... Nice looking fish. Then things went SOUR!!!! Through out the day Mike and myself saw just shy of 20 fish and only boated the one. TOUGH DAY TO GET THEM TO EAT!!!!!! Some took swipes, but other just turned off at the boat. O well, one 42.5 is better than NONE!
Sunday I fished with my brother Tom. We started off again by the 2 islands heading into Echo Bay around 5:15 am, THIS FISH HAD TO EAT RIGHT!! NOPE, a few follows, boils, ect... but no fish hooked. Followed the 9-10 ft. break heading back towards the channel and the FAMOUS Willow Tree, and had good action. Tom had 2 fish hit, but not in the net! One was on a Hughes River, and another on a S.S. Shad. Fished Webster most of the early morning then headed to Tippy. Saw a nice fish on Tippy on the Northside on the Crappie Grey Ghost, took a swipe, but no hooks. O well! Only fished till about 1:00, then had to get off the water.
I could have been a better weekend, but close to 30 fish to the boat, and only landing the 42.5 was a little tough to swallow. There is always next weekend!!!!
Good luck on the water: If you need anything, give me a call. | |
