Subject: okuma convector linecounter saltwater reel


Was looking into the smallest size, cdn-15 I think the model # is. HOw do the hold up. Are the SGL17lca by daiwa better? Need a couple of line counters....thanks for the input..Ben

I have no personal experience w/ either, but have a couple of friends that have owned both Diawa and Okuma. Both have told me that whereas the Okuma is generally less expensive and quite servicable, they liked the Diawa better and thought it was worth the extra $$.
Probably not exactly the answer you were looking for, but it's about as specific as my information allows...

Ben, I have the next cheaper models. I have broken two of them but both times were under extreme cold and the reels were under extreme loads. The other two I have not used dipseys with in really cold temps and they have been fine. The convector is supposed to be a much stronger reel than the ones I have.
