I see a few posts are popping up already talking about fall muskie chasing, and it's got me all worked up for my 2nd favorite time of year (behind pre-spawn hefty Mama's [if fish open season waters from March - May]). As I do when I get excited to chase the big girls, I get to planning trips. Here is my plan so far for the cold water season (some are concrete days, some just open ideas):

-Sept. 18th -25th - NW. Ontario in the Vermillion Bay area, hitting the Indian Chain for numbers for the old man, and trailering to Eagle or the Goon (sunny days are the Goon, overcast/crappy days on Eagle) for big fish.

-October 2nd - Boron/Luke/Slamr reunion on Indy waters.

-October 30th - Kly Tourney

-at least 2 weekends at the Hideout coaxing Mr. Worrall into the boat and out of the tree stand.

-early November on the Fox Chain - do I hear MuskieFIRST Mini-Outting?

-a few Saturdays trucking out to Indy in addition to the time with Boron and Luke

-Silver for sucker dragging on half days (Sunday escape)

-anyone want to show me around the Fox River and Green Bay, I'll drag the 1690 and bring lunch if you know the waters.

*add in a day on the Big Lake for smallies again, and a morning or two in Kenosha Harbor chasing tasty salmon.....

What's on your agenda?

Sept 11-25 at Cass.
Then it all depends on how long it takes for a P&Y buck to walk within 30 yards of me.
If it happens early I'll get some bonus water time.
Then again, there's that awesome fall walleye bite on The Mississippi River.
So much to do and so little time.

Slamr, how did you do smallmouth fishing? I will be taking my girls this Sunday for some S WI smallmouths.

I hope to hit IN (Barbee, Tippy, Webster), MN (Mille Lacs), WI (Silver, Pewaukee, LCO, The Chip), and IL (Fox Chain) waters with friends this fall.

Walleye fly in to Lake St. Joseph in September
Maybe LOTW in October?
Ottawa River in November

The fall bite should start early this year!

Slamr,

There are no fish in the Fox!! and Green Bay is soooo huge. But if you want to come up for a weekend, bring your extreme cold weather boots and snow suit. It's a long, cold day when it's in the teens!

Cass Lake for a couple days with DaveJ(Tail end of the Shady Moon outing)?

Hayward area for some sucker fishing, too perhaps.

And, of course, Kly's Outing on Okauchee.

I am going to be hiding in Sheps truck this fall when he ventures to his favorite fall waters.
Then the Kly tourney,
Manitowish in a couple of weeks,
Okauchee, Pewaukee, and Silver (Slamer, let me ,know when you want to hit it with the suckers)
I could do the Fox Chain Mini Outing again. Those FRV boys are hillarious!!!!
I am also thinking a mini outing to the Mad Chain. What do ya think? Bring on the big girls of fall!!!!!!

I'd like to fish all 3 remaining Iron Man's if I can find a partner for them. The end of this month is Man Chain WMT. Kly's tourny and Musky Hunter's outting is in Oct.

I cant believe we're ending August already, I still have a ton of outside electrical work to do on my house up north yet...and I'm all out of vacation time!!! OOPS.

When are you guys planning the M1st outting down south?

Joel- Stay away from the Madison chain in the fall...they are very skinny and you never catch big ones.....

I won't even venture out there this fall. Probably spend a large amount of time up in Vilas/Onieda at the cabin this year!!

Cory

(I was by myself when I got this one...this was taken off of the video camera....so skinny I don't know if it even made it through the winter)

That's what I'm talking about Cory.
I see what you mean. Maybe I should just pound the Fox Chain, or maybe just hang it up and fish for some fatty bluegill. lol

My fall musky hunts will be limited, I have a 1 yr. old chocolate lab that is going to get her first shot at grouse and ducks. Heck won't be to bad the girlfriend is pumped to go with the new pooch so its a win win for me hunting every weekend!

I'll be on the Manitowish Chain next week and the week after Labor Day. That will likely end my trips this year unfortunately. I'll definitely make a point of hitting Silver and the Fox Chain once all the yahoos get off the water this fall.

My fall has already been planned for me courtesy of the U.S. government. I am being given an all-expense paid vacation to So. Iraq for 120 days. Peanuts compared to what some of our other service members have to deal with. I will be looking forward to the spring when I will get back, retire from active duty, and hopefully spend a few solid months chasing ski's before I have to go out and find a real job.

Caldron, High Falls, and one other NE Wisc. spot. I will be out every Sunday until Ice Up.
I also will be hitting Shawno a couple of times late this fall with some suckers. Can't
wait, other than topwater time, it's my favorite time to be on the water.

5 days in Cass/Bemidji Area... either last week of Sept/first of October, or second week of October. Like to fish the Chain or the Fox River a couple times between now and ice-up as well. A MuskieFirst outing on the Chain in late Oct./November timeframe would be really cool.

Many days out on the road showing the new boats punctuated by sitting in a tree blasting and flinging sticks at deer and sitting in the front of the boat sticking hooks in Muskie jaws. All locally, except for the new boat models part.

Probably, just day trips to Silver and the Indiana lakes, unless I can talk my sister into watching my dad for a few days. And as Todd and others know until Ice up on the Indiana lakes. Al
