I have been talking to a company with a job opening in Minocqua, thinking about moving out there. WHat's it like, never been there. HOw bad are the winters? any info will be appreciated, even though it's a long shot that this homeboy's moving anywhere, but I am considering it.

Lot's of lakes to fish and lots of country to hunt. Snow and ice happens every year.........well most every year. Depending upon where you live now, this could be a great move for you. Clean water and lots of Muskies around. What kind of job opening did you say this was? Almost had myself moving there for awhile. Nice place, a few to many tourists in Summer. But home to Rollie & Helens Musky Shop!!!!

And just to add to Mike's post, you would only be 40 miles from St. Croix Rods and my little home away from home.[:praise:]

There are literally over 1000 muskie lakes within an hour radius from Minocqua, about as close to muskie heaven as you can get!!

The area is beautiful, the fishing very good, the hunting excellent, the people real and down to earth, and the real estate expensive...great place to live and work.I live exactly 31 miles from there, and fish the area alot. You will probably regret not moving there if you have a chance, and do not do it...[]

Very, very nice people, good fishing and hunting. And you can still find "good deals" on waterfront, in my opinion. Highest per capita rate of taverns, so bad place to be an alcoholic. There are not many better places to raise a family. I live about 100 miles north of there.

Need a roommate? It's a nice area and you will not have time to fish all the available musky water in that area. Kind of like a dog in a forrest full of fire hydrants.[]

Its much colder then Milwaukee thats for sure.. It gets to 20 below often in the winter.

But the muskie fishing in the summer is great.. So take the good with the bad.[;)]
