The SSC4 is high speed with the push button just like the blue C4. The SSC3 has the same internals of the C3, but it has the thumb bar instead of the push button. Both are quality reels, but remember that the C4's with the high speed gears are better fitted for jerk baits, twitch baits and some top water. The C3's are great all around reels and are better for bucktail fishing than the C4. The people that complain about C4's are working bucktails with them hard. High speed gears do not like that.
