| Hi new to the board, love it! I'm in the market for a Plotter, can anyone steer me in the right direction. I'm looking at the Lowrance's.

| I guess I'm wondering if the gps/plottter and fishfinder in one is the way to go, but I have a finder already and I don't feel like rewiring everything. |

Location: Mendota Heights, MN | I would not get a combo unless space is at a premium. Seperate GPS and Sonar units will give you more screen space dedicated to one function, and allow you to upgrade one or the other as needed.

| Would you run 2 seperate plotters as well as running seperate fishfinders, It's sounds easier to mark a spot or a fish while casting up front then to have to run back and mark the spot or a fish from the back of the boat ( I have a tiller)? |

Location: Mendota Heights, MN | I suppose I would consider a combo unit in that situation, where I already had a seperate locator and GPS unit. I am just not sure I could cost justify having 2 gps units when you consider the added cost of the Nav. chip for each. I mount my GPS on the console on a ram mount so it can swivel to face forward or backward. I think I would be inclined to get up and hit the waypoint button wherever it was located rather thatn spend the extra money for 2 GPS units and the map chips.
Do you do most of your casting from the back of the boat? If you are running a bowmount trolling motor i can see you dilema.

| Well I took all the Info and I bought separate units, my next ? is can you run the 2 gps units at the same time or will they interfear with each other like sonar does at certain depths?

Location: Minnetonka , MN. | Lowrance is comeing out with some new ones this year . The LCX-111c HD has a 20gb hard drive built in. It realy looks like a sweet unit. I still like two units for GPS and Sonar. With the new ones comeing out you may be able to find some deals on the old ones  |

| Hey, I bought a x-15 and a 4000 plotter for the back, and for the front I bought a x-135 and a 4800 plotter. I sold all my old stuff on e-bay and made out o.k. so I took all the advise and went with all seperate units now I have to decide if I'm going to use the same nav chip and switch it from unit to unit. What do you think? |

Depending on what lakes you fish, you could go with 2 Nav chips: one in the back does not need to be as high defination as the one in the front (back $129, front $199). You could also go with one in the front and just get some starting points recorded on you rear unit and then move up to the front to fish "live" form a high def map.
