Fellas-

I was out on the Fox Chain on saturday with good ole friend SLAMR fishing on Channel lake. We are working this nice point only to notice a boat racing towards us. Needless to say this inconsiderate angler in Ranger Fisherman 681 in Black or another dark color with a 135hp Merc on the back proceeds to run hot within 15 ft of my rig. I asked Slamr if he thought this guy was going to turn, he was on a course right at us. My boat isnt too hard to miss, 20 ft champion, maybe it was my head to toe camoflauge outfit. SLAMR and myself glared at this guy as he drove right past. He looked directly at us, saw us, and made no attempt to move. I know the Fox Chain is full of "Beat-Offs" in the summer that like to buzz boats, didnt figure another musky angler would do this. Funny thing, there were a total of maybe 3 boats on the entire lake, and all I could see was wide open water for him to be at least 50 yds from me. This is just a lack of respect!!! Granted the Fox brings out the best in people, what a joke this guy was. Didnt even give the "woops" look. He is just lucky that I decided to be respectful to him and his partner and not 70mph within 15ft!
What a joke!!!

I would have casted right in his path and hung on[]. Come out to tonka and you'll get alot of that. On tonka they at least wave at you as their 30'+ cruzer comes close to swamping you.

I know one thing,I would have told him there is a 100'rule to stay away from fisherman and that he could use some sportsmanship/boating lessons.Politly though!Maybe then next time they will think twice! Jeff []

Anyone know this guy? 681VS (not sure on the VS part) with a 135 opti on the back....dark colored (maroon or black?). We were going to go up and say something to him, but figured what's the use? Like he is going say he's sorry or something. Hell, with my little 20hp Merc I slow down and give people a wide berth if they are fishing or even just lazing about. Some people understand etiquette on the water.....some don't. And I concurr, its one thing if its "pleasure" boaters, they never have a clue....but when it's a fisherman, and especially a muskie fisherman, then it's that much worse. I just hope that he blanked as badly as we did....THE FOX CHAIN SUCKS!!!

There are all kinds of folks out there, and maybe this guy is ''one of those''.

We need to have the rude folks so we can tell when folks are being polite.

Ever see Pleasantville?

Maybe the guy plain and simple didn''t ''get it'' that running that close to another boat is rude, or just plain made a simple mistake. Then again, maybe he IS just plain a rude dude.....But then he could NOT have been a Muskie fisherman...benefit of the doubt for now?? []

Hey guys, he is out there every weekend. I see him every time I am out there even if it's just a few boats. I have never had a problem with him. The only time I have a problem with boats zooming by is by the outlet on channel. They have all the no wake bouys gone so nobody obey's those areas now, except for the channels. I may be mistaken but I think this guy is on these boards so you may here from him. I hope your day was good. I have a geen and white misty river pulling planer boards so if you ever se me say hi.[:sun:]

After spending a weekend out there while fishing the PMTT in May, it doesn't really surprise me that something like that would happen. I thought Pewaukee was bad, it doesn't even compare to the chain. This stuff really bothers me and over the years I have lost a lot of my patients for stuff like that.
At the very least I would of followed him and chewed his @ss a little. Probably would have done no good, but at least I could blow off some steam!!!!

That's the main reason I usually do not fish in Illinois especially the Fox Chain, Just too many idiots and butt heads.
Personally i would like to see a Boating Endorsment on Drivers license's this way we would all have to follow the rules of the road (water) and would make it easier for law enforcement to punish violators

See ya at the shows

The Fox Chain is quite a trip. In August (I think) I had a guy in a Black and Yellow Ranger come out of the Fog full throttle and cut off my line, sending my brand new perch color jerko to the bottom of the lake. Boy was I pissed.

I have also had a few instances where I wasn't sure if I was going to have to bail as the power boats were getting a little close. Makes the fishing interesting to say the least.

Someone should put a sign at the entrance to Bluff.. "Fish at your own risk"
