| My folks are possibly looking to buy some property near the Manitowish Chain. They've assigned me to find out about the fishing opportunities (namely muskie, although if there were a good smallie lake(s) I'd be interested in that as well). I know there are big fish caught out of the chain each year (MI Lunge Log) but what are the lakes like? How many lakes in the chain? Are they clear? What type of structure? Lots of boat traffic/fishing pressure? What other good muskie lakes are nearby? If anyone has any info at all they'd be willing to share it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! | |

Location: Woodstock, IL | It is a 10-lake chain ranging from lightly stained to clear. The larger lakes have cisco, big fish and lots of pleasure boaters during peak times. The channels between the lakes have lots of weeds, as do some of the river inlets. The main lakes are relatively weed free.
Be prepared to write a lot of zeros on the check because the Manitowish Chain is ridiculously expensive, even for northern WI. A small cabin on a channel with minimal frontage will set you back $300,000+.
The entire area around there is filled with good musky lakes. Just open up a map and pick one.
Email me if you'd like more information. I've fished the Chain for several years and my wife has vacationed there since she was a kid. | |

| It is a nice place to escape to, after a hard week. Weekdays are usually quiet, low boat traffic. In Northern WI, Manitowish Chain is the most exclusive. I consider it the pride of WI. | |

| I have been fortunate enough to fish the chain my entire life. We have a place on Spider. It is a great chain of lakes. I go up every weekend looking for muskies. We usually have good success. This past weekend we had 16 fish up, and 4 in the boat. 42,42,38,36. Night fishing during the mid summer can be deadly. I have seen some BIG fish over open water, and have a personal best of 50 inches. I catch between 40-60 fish there a year. It is great for smallies too. We have taken a couple around the 20 inch mark fishing for muskies on big cranks. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. | |
