Location: Holly, MI | My 17 ft center console has a bow rail around the front that eliminates the use of a bow mounted trolling motor. I have rigged a standard transom mount electric trolling motor and it works but is bothersome to say the least. In the way of outboard in hard turn, have to raise before tilting, etc.
Has anyone ever used the engine mounted electric trolling motors? They bolt on above your cavitation plate and you turn them by turning your outboard. How do they work? Great? So So? Not to great? Terrible?

| I think Greg Bohn used one. hehehe
I think there is one called the navigator. I've seen them used, but never been in a boat with them in operation. Maybe try on walleyeFirst, and ask for Capt. Dan(Walleye Express) He may know more. |

I have no idea as to where you'd even buy that thing Lob, I've never seen one |

Location: Holly, MI | Gander, I would have thought The Mountain would have it. It is available many places, here is one so you can see it (sorry for the other store reference)..

I'm thinking it would be ok to reach back to make adjustments by touching the wheel. Definatly not the same as just steering with your foot of course. The outboard would act as a rudder and work with the electric instead of fighting it as usual unless you tilt the motor all the way out of the water. |
