Location: Holly, MI | My brother gets a kick out of the fact that I seem to know the name of every Musky lure available. He was trying to describe one to me the other day and I said "You mean a ..(what ever it was)" he says Yea, that's it. Then another time he called a lure somthing and I said that it looked more like a "whatever" he admits,"oh yea, geez do you know every musky lure or what?"
I got him with the ultimate final straw the other day at Gander Mtn. He was looking at a Musky Book and I was thumbing thru a bowhunting mag about 5 feet away. He holds it up and says, "check out this Muskie" I said " That is Spence Petros holding it." He looks down at the tiny writing below the pic and looks back at me laughing saying "you are really sick man, really sick"
Who else out there has annoyed or amused people with their obsessive thoughts about Muskie? I know some of you out here have cheezed someone off or made someone laugh because of your "sickness".

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Since I was about 16 my entire LIFE has been about Muskies, in one way or another. I am a sicko, alright, and finally found an equally imbalanced lady to share my addiction. I am a lucky man all the way around, way I see things! Here I st on a Monday night listening to Zeppelin and writing about Muskies. Bet I am in a SEVERE minority when looking at the entire male 50 something year old population of North America. Happy to be imbalanced...

I am just as nuts about musky fishing as you and my brother is 14 months younger, looks 8 years older has way less hair and is much heavier. He does make more money, has a nice house, nicer vehilcles, a great wife, lives in a lake community that is stocked with muskies, looks like I am just exactly like you after all!

I wish I could get Jeff (my bro) out more. I have had him on the water three times this year and there is a lot of time left yet. I think I only shared a boat with him 3 times all last year. I don't understand how he can only have the disease on a light scale. He doesn't read every post here, spend extra time surfing the entire net for the word muskie, spend retirement amounts of money on Muskie gear, talk about it even in the off season, have a picture or two stuffed under sun visor just in case you meet somone who hasn't seen them yet, etc. You know what I mean I'm pretty sure.
There is NO cure, only lots of treatment. Keep taking your medicine.

| You are not alone, my fellow bovine.
Though Zeppelin would keep up my daughter, she's snuggled up
listening to radio Disney while her mom watches MTV.
I too am blessed with a pair of mentally challenged female counterparts
to shrare my passion.
The only thing missing from the equation is much like a time/distance problem.
Not enough time and too much distance make muskie hunting, our #1 passion, difficult to take part in .
I'd rather watch Taylor play hockey, or in this case go to stick-handling camps, but we will have a few weeks this fall to chase the big girls of MN together.
God willing, I'll have many years coming to make up for these lost years on the water.
Wish I lived in your neck of the woods.
Come October 4th 2110, we just might turn into Minnesotans. She'll be in a better place to play hockey, and I'll be closer to the muskies. Becky will have to pick up the slack somehow, or she'll have to travel
In the mean time, I'll spend time in the garage painting weapons to prepare for battles to be fought in the early fall.
Then there's that bow-hunting thing hanging over my head............
Someday I'll find the time for a proper mix.
I'll never be cured, but for now I'm stuck in remission, though it's an illness that I don't want to be treated for.

| I sharpen hooks immediately after getting home with a new lure, no matter what else is going on. I await Musky Hunter and Esox Angler each month with more anticipation than Playboy. A LOTW trip was the straw that broke the Camel's back in my failed marraige of 15 years. Being single again at least gives me much more time to fish!

| Slamr, I know that yours is a thankless task, but believe me, I for one, deeply appreciate what you do.
You will reap your rewards someday soon...........or you'll tell us all to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Location: Eau Claire,WI | I will probably get slammed for saying this but someone has too...YES there is cure,I found it !
It is called burned out, having a few bad years after many years of doing nothing but muskie
fishing, going to shows in the off season and spending every cent on muskie gear.Add to the fact that
I have had 2 neck surgeries in the last 4 years, permanent nerve damage in both arms and a much
weaker hook set and you can see how guy can lose interest in muskie fishing.
Now instead of muskie fishing 3 to 6 times a week I might make it out for a few hours.I like to
for "bait" too. I just returned from the best walleye/lake trout fishing I have ever had,no muskies
a hundred miles or so..50 lakers in a morning,that is FUN! 50+ walleye mornings,not a problem,
most 20",yes,20"-22",that too is FUN! For me,that is what fishing is suposed to be about, fun!
Have fun,get those fish and write about all of your catches,I still like to read the stories and look
at the pics.

Get over to the Hideout, I will treat you to a trip for Crappies and Bluegills you will not soon forget. I fish for everything!!
Everyone:
Don't worry about Slamr proclaiming distaste, the stronger the distaste, the stronger the passion ( except for his ladyfriend, who I am looking forward to meeting this weekend). It's in his genetics, I fear.

Location: Minneconia | I'm completely obsessed, already had one wedding canceled due to musky fishing. I'm a bit different than some of you, though. I don't fish for walleyes, bluegills, crappies, bass, catfish, bullheads, carp, sheepshead, trout..........only muskies. Even when I try to fish for other species I end up hucking something larger than 3 ounces. And I also concur, I don't want a cure.
