Location: Angola, IN | My brother Tom and I just returned from a week's stay up in Ontario. We saw lots of real decent fish, but this stained water gave up very few strikes during the cold fronts we had up there. Several nights, it got down to 34-36 degrees....at the end of July!!!! We missed 1-3 fish every night on topwaters.
This 51.5" couldn't let a custom pink Mepp's #5 go on by. Didn't get a girth measurement, but you can see she was a fattie. |

I have a Bucktail that has a Pink blade/ White hair I must say that I have caught more northerns than muskies on that bait, Does that mean that Northerns are Limp Finned

Okay, I'm pretty sure this will work this time.

Location: Angola, IN | Thanks John. Since Mid-December, I've gone from 340 pounds to 187....and it's still coming off. It sure makes those 50" fish look a lot bigger. Can't wait till this fall!!!!! |

| Awesome fish Steve. Man, I could use a diet like the one you used. I myself am trying to cut some wait in an effort to make those fish look bigger...and to live a little longer I guess. |

The weight you lost must be made up in the hogs you've caught in the last seasons!
Way to go! |

I don't know who you heard that from. Basically, my brother and I wasn't really moving anything against the rocks and weeds.
I wanted to throw a bright bucktail, so I put on a pink Mepp's #5, with pink blade and a trick pink trailer (pink pork). I always throw long bomb casts, and she hit after a few handle cranks. I knew it was a big fish, and after fishing with Marc Thorpe and landing some big fish, I got to the front of the boat. It really helped when the fish was bulldogging under the boat, I could get my rod to either side of the boat, w/o having my rod pinned against the gunnel.
When she finally came up towards the surface, I knew it was a piggie. I fish is easily 30 pounds.
My brother and I were going crazy. We settled down, Tom unhooked the fish very easily, and we took some quick pics. We got a good release on her.
Hey Komer.....actually the schwizz Pink Mepp's was my idea. Pink is a killer color. I can't believe you're 35 pounds heavier than me now!! I'll be catching up to ol' Tomcat here pretty soon. Maybe we can all fish together sometime soon dude.

| Congratulations on a nice fish.
Those of you who have had success with pink. Has it only been on fast moving baits(spinners, bucks) or gliders too? What type of water conditions has pink worked well on? Clear? Stained? Chocolate?

You had to bring that up!! Ha Ha. Very funny. That will always be one of the funniest things that ever happened to me. Plus, scoring two shorties was just a bonus.
I bet the family in the ski boat that witnessed the whole thing and helped me out is still laughing about that.
Dude, we need to fish together sometime this summer. I know you're a master troller, and you'll for sure take me to school, but I think I can show you a few things as well about dragging lures across the lake.
Send me an email or PM man. |
