I'm looking at getting a new GPS sonar and I am wondering if there are definite advantages of the 19 over the 18

The X-19 has a larger screen than the X-18 and has better (more computer screen like) resolution.

X-19- 7" Diagonal with 640x480 res.
X-18- 6.25" Diagonal with 320x240 res.

Both share the same amount of power, peak to peak, at 8,000 watts.

The x-15 is the best overall sonar/gps screen from lowrance in my (and the lowrance tekkies) opinion. Although the x-19's screen is improved over the 16-18's it still does not show up well in the sun. They are otherwise very similar units.

I like my X-15, and am considering going to the 19 next spring. By then, they all should have the screen with the enhanced sunlight viewing. I have been in boats with the 19 this year, and must say that I really don't have that big a problem seeing the screen detail in bright sun.

Lowrance really worked hard on the color/glare problem. The color units originally came with a "hat" to help. I'm heading tword the X-104C or maybe the Garmin 3010 with the sonar and weather/sat.radio modules.

Well my lower unit (LOTW) says the x-19 still does NOT show up as well in the bright sunlight as the x-15 that I also have. Neither does the rock!
