| I know minnesota's season ends with the lakes freezing and I think ontario is much later than wisconsin's novenber 30th close or it's the same as minnesota. My guess is that wisconsin is trying to protect the musky from ice fishing too so why not let the ice decide when the season is over? They sure are missing out on some tourism dollars right now, mine included. Last year the season would have ended early but the year before it would not have. | |

| Usually, it is solid ICE up here in December, and I mean the 1st. It is usually a moot point, but maybe as the weather changes to the warmer, things will change, and we will have a season that goes into December!![:sun:] [:sun:] | |

| Thanks for the response Steve. How about southern wisconsin? I think it will be awhile before they freeze. Maybe after the first of the year the way the weather is going. At least they could change the close since the start dates are different from north to south. | |

| I think you have an interesting point. I would love to see "ice" as the determing factor as to when to close the season.
My wife, however, says she will form the biggest, badest, most vocal lobbing group the DNR has ever seen if I even think about persuing it.
Think you have to count me out of that battle.

| Todd,
I'm with you 100% on this one! Wisconsin,,, and there ridiculous rules,,,,,, Why wouldn't they want the business?
Like you I'm going to spend it somewhere till I can't launch it no moe,,, it's just where? For my kids and I it's IL or KY,?? I have been asking this question for years and only get at most, a very weak response from the few people that are in favor of the Nov 30th close. (they are ones that wouldn't be out there any way) They say "well,,, it's to protect the females",,, bla, bla, bla,,,, which in turn I would agree with,,, I guess, where it actually matters. (I'm not in favor of fishing for spawning female bass on there beds but there's plenty of fishermen in favor of that) Then I ask "what about in lakes that have shown absolutely "NO" signs of any natural reproduction and rely "solely" on stock to keep it's population?' I don't get much of an answer there.... what's the big deal???
Why doesn't Wisconsin come out of the dark ages and "start" here with this rule change? At minimum till ice below Rt. 10????
Next we can deal with the trolling thing.... []

| Most of the time this is not the issue.. Pewaukee has ice most of time by Thanksgiving or even earlier.
Funny how the ice went out the latest(April 8th or so).. and is comming on the latest..
Interesting year I might say.[;)]
