Location: Oshawa, Ontario | I have seen a few of these lately and was wondering how they work as a glide bait, quality and how to get my hands on a few?? Any reports?? |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Ah, yes, one of the finer baits to come from wild, wonderful West Virginia, mother state of some of the best baitmakers in the country, IMHO. Here's a link to get you started:

I've seen his products, a fine, hard finish and great action. He makes some big ones, too. m |

| OneLastCast,
Have never owned a Smutley but must admit they look like a great bait. You might also consider one of the baits I build. Here is a "pool-side" video of my "beerbelly" version.

Best Regards.

Location: Lincoln UK | Great baits, fantastic build quality and lovely actions. Mark can sort out different drop rates and does a great job with the spray gun. Has even made me drop bellys in non standard sizes and colors. He posts on here occasionaly so hopefully he will post on this thread. Cannot say enough good things about them. |

| Many thanks to all of you who said kind things about my baits. I try to make a good product at a fair price. My standard bait is designed to be worked slowly. It sinks slowly. I can however make baits, (like the ones Pikiespawn has) which sink about 2 feet per second and can be worked 7' or 8' down. I try to make the baits look as realistic as I can. I go on the internet and pull up pics of baitfish(cisco, bluegill, perch,etc...) and do my best to duplicate them. I thank all of you who have purchased my baits and given me the chance to show that baits can be made that work and do not cost an arm and a leg. I make no claim as far as being this or that among W. V. baitmakers. I will let you guys decide that.
Alos I would like to thank all of you who have requested variations on my paint schemes and bait sizes. I have learned very much by doing these baits for you. The baits I did for Chico were a variiation on my 5" bait. When I threw them I said to my friend Larry that these were most likely the best baits I have ever made. Many thanks to Chico and Pat.
Ther is another person I would like to thank publicly. That man is Mr. Jack Cobb. I have known Jack for about 30 years. I fished his baits so much I never gave thought of making some of my own. But when I did Jack has helped me emmensely. Especially with my weighting of the baits and the finishing of the baits. Not many baitmakers would help out a Newby like Jack will. Jack has also helped other baitmakers in W. V. with various things from time to time. I would be no where near as far along as I am without Jacks help. He is a fine man. Good luck to all for the remainder of the fishing season. Regards, Mark Smith |

| I like those slow sinkers. Much like another West Virginia lure maker, the way the lures are balanced is awesome. Twitch, twitch.....pause........WHAM! That "hang" during the pause will really turn fish on. The older I get, the longer the pauses. The longer the pauses with a slow sinker, the better the lure seems to work. If I want to dogwalk a lure back to the boat, I'll use a Phantom or a Reef Hawg. These gliders are more like finesse baits, if you can stand to wait.

| On the other side of the coin from Beaver, I like the fast dropers Mark produces. Have gotten 2 fps plus Smulltys but I fish clear water and the big fish stage deep. Awesome bait. Awesome paint and finish. Will be a 40.00 bait on ebay very soon. Keep up the good work Mark. Your the man. |

| I agree with both of you, I have both models and used them accordingly. That's why I ordered fast sinkers, for clear water and sunny, or blue bird skies. Very good machinery! Smuttleys Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pikiespawn |
