I'll try to keep this updated the best I can, I'm usually up there 2x a month.

4th of July weekend brought a roller coaster of weather and activity. Water temps are still very very cool for this time of year. Shallow lakes are about 70, deeper bodies of water will be only in the mid 60's. I fished the Cisco Chain on Monday, water temp was 66.5. What's funny is that the water levels are decreasing and the temps are'nt really going up!

I saw 4 fish the entire weekend, all of them coming in 8-15 fow. Cranks and Glides were working best last weekend. The week prior to the 4th weekend, my brother nailed a 47" on a Hog Wobbler, so it looks like the bite and lure choice is pretty dependant on the weather right now. With water temps fluctution by 5-6 degrees, instability is the only thing consistant up in God's Country.

"instability is the only thing consistant up in God's Country." you can say that again i was up for a week over the 4th and watched water temps go from 68-9 when i got there down to 61 by the time i left, musky was very slow<slower than ive ever had> walleye bite was ok but had trouble getting legals, smallie bite was good had about 20 fish to 18"

Just got a report from a Credible Source (My brother the Biology teacher), weather has been kind of up and down, but temps remained stabil all this week (July 8-16). Muskys have really been on the move and so has the water temps. Larger lakes the Cisco Chain and LVD have water temps coming up to or exceeding 70ยบ.

Fish seem to be concentrating OUTSIDE weedbeds. Seems like the musky are'nt lying right in waiting for the ambush, but on the prowel along the edges.

Walleye patterns in small twtichers like Slammers and Cranes have worked very well.

Fished the Cisco Chain and Palmer/Tenderfoot on Saturday and Sunday July 17&18. As we drove north on Friday night, a cool front passed through that brought high skies and calm conditions. Fished Palmer for 3 hours in the Am and T-Foot for 4 hours in the afternoon....nothing. We took the rig out of Palmer and went over to the Cisco Chain...fished Big Lake for 3 hours and the same thing....nothing.

Water temps are begining to creep up to the mid 70's and weed edges have become visible in shallow water. Saturday night brought such a bad Mayfly hatch that I needed to spend 2 hours cleaning out the boat. So there's a chance that the hatch may have put Musky off to artificals.
