Well this is the time you want to clean and maintain the gear that builds you memories.

1)Clean you reels and back off those drags.

2)Wash your cork on your rods with soap and water to make look new for next season.

3)Organize your baits and look for problems, cracks, split rings and bad hooks.

Those are some quick and simple things.. anyone think of some more to add to the list.

I found that my cork handles last a lot longer and clean up much easier if I use o cork sealer. The brand I use is U-40. I think I got it out of Jann's or Netcraft. It does not make the handle feel any different either.

Make sure you bring your batteries into a warm area, check the water level (top them off if necessary) and put them on the charger from time to time so they don't sit all winter and slowly discharge to nothing.

I also clean my rod blanks and put a coat of ARMOUR-ALL on them!Put them in the rack and they look shinnie and new for SPRING!This seems to bring them back to life! Jeff

1.I''ll be sharpening hooks that became dull from rocks and major use.

2.Touch up cracked or chip paint on some of my baits that met the jaws of a freshwater shark. I usually use a permanent felt tip marker. many baits have dark back so a black marker works pretty well.

3. Replace rusting split rings and hooks. Check the line on my rods and determine whether to flip it or not for another season of use.

4. Oil up and Grease up the Reels. May bring a few Reels to the reel repaireman and have some preventive maintenance done to them.

5. Organize the baits that will warrant some more use for next year. The ones that I hardly throw may be put in the swap box.

6. Dust off the computer monitor and keyboard for upcoming winter use. Plus activate the anti-Bicker/Rip on that Pro/Guide filter on my computer when the virus hits full force in February.[:blackeye:]

catch ya later,

Take a stroll out to the garage every evening and give your new Tuffy a good-night kiss. Assuring her that you're not neglecting her, and that you'll be putting some fresh slime on her shortly.[:p] [:p] [:p]

Actually, if you fully charge your batteries, you should store them in the cold. A fully charged battery will not self-discharge as fast in the cold as it will at room temperature. Make sure you disconnect all devices to the battery, and clean it thoroughly, charge it fully, and you're set.

But, this probably should have been done last fall! [:0]
