Hi all thought I'd share this as it was an exciting day and a kind of documentary of catching my personal best:

Here were the highlights of Friday July 2, 2004 on Lake of the Woods:

The hot bait of the day was a black tallywhacker, I had many follows and blowups, here are two follows we managed to catch on video.

First follow 1:30PM - mid forty incher 5 times around nose to bait in the figure eight.

Second follow 2:00PM - 55.25 incher swam away as soon as it saw the boat

This fish as you can tell wasn't quite ready to go, so I left it and came back later.

It was now 8:30PM, windy, raining and dark. After casting to the exact same spot it came from earlier, the fish immediately started following the tallywhacker in with it's back out of the water, leaving a wake like a nuclear sub. Once I got the bait to the boat, the fish parked itself under the boat and watched as I did a figure eight, about the fifth time around it simply darted out, inhaled the bait and the fight was on. This fish turned out to be my personal best at 55.25 inches.

Fish caught

and released:

This fish also prove to me catch and release works! This same fish (it had a distinctive mark on it's back) followed in the same tallywhacker on the exact same spot the next day.

HOLY BUCKETS!!!! That is sooo coool!!
I was showing some people at work, and they were like, you fish for those things. I almost had to run out to the truck to try and see the fish better. LOL
Great fish, and great video.

COOL

It's Rare that you get a chance to get follows on video and a personal best at that

Congrats

Thanks guys! Yes I realize how rare this was, catching muskie on video is tough, they have this uncanny ability to show themselves or take a bait when the camera is paused or put away. A special thanks goes to my wife for having the patience to sit and film through numerous casts to get those shots.

Awesome fish - Congrats. You sure the fish wasn't eyeing your dog? Good thing the pooch didn't take a tumble while the fish was camped under the boat.

Very cool. Isn't it nice when a plan comes together.
Nice footage. Nice photos.
Great fish.
We're heading into a new frontier now, from CPR to VCPR.
I'll never find anybody willing to man the video camera while I fish.
Way to go man.

Thanks again guys! Yes funny thing about our dog, he goes absolutely nuts when he sees a fish splash and has numerous times jumped into the water while I was reeling in a fish. One of these days he's going to jump in at the wrong time and get himself eaten, this fish could have easily taken him whole.

No I don't know the weight and I didn't get a girth measurement, in all the excitement of actually catching this fish and on a figure eight no less, I had forgot to take one and only remembered as she was already revived and struggling to swim away. Doesn't really matter the fish wasn't that fat and clearly wasn't a world record or anything, all I can say is it was heavy and it was a struggle to hold it up, if I were to guess a girth I'd put it at 25ish.
