Location: north central wisconsin |
I like the SLop Master spinner bait by Bucher, but I had a couple large muskies completely inhale the whole lure(hard to get a small lure like that out when it is way way down) this week, and I'm in need of a bigger spinnerbait that is built just like the slopmaster, or a similar design that goes through stuff as easily. I tried a Grinder and it collected too much stuff in the weeds I was fishing, as did the Fudally(though I like both lures for other applications). Can someone steer me onto a good slop spinnerbait that is a size class bigger(but not too huge) than the slopmaster, and may be a bit harder for a musky to completely inhale?? I've looked at several brands on the internet and in catalogs that look like they may be the right choice(cjs, rad dogs etc), but don't want to buy a bunch of stuff I don't like to find a good one. I need them before next weekend. Thanks for any help.
|

| Jason,
Good to hear you're sticking some fish.Next week and I'm back at it.Can't wait.I really like the Rad Dog for most slop situations. Not real heavy and built on .062 wire I believe. The line tie has a more direct line to the "body" including the hooks.I do swap out the trailer for a bigger one, a 7/0 or an 8/0.Love the red/flame north of the border.Good luck. | Violent Strike makes the best 'slop' spinnerbait hands down. Custom build, any size/color you wish, great price and great quality. I have been using the VS on the Goon with good success for years. Call Ketih at 715.362.8557 to order. |

| I've used the Marvs spinnerbaits in the 1.25 oz for years and have stood the test of time and fish abuse. Also, the twin spin is great for creeping your bait across the slop ot cabbage tassels during dropping water levels.

| Jason,
I typically use tandems because I just have more of them. When I'm on the Woods working slop, The bait is probably out of the water a 1/3 of the retrieve due to ripping and popping.Creates one heck of a disturbance with the blades clanking and all that.If I miss a fish(or IT misses the bait) I at least have another customer on the route.Go back and GET EM!A friend just got a 52 3/4" in 2 feet of water up there last week.I don't have all the details yet.Have a greatr trip! | You can get the single, double and twin spin Marv spinner baits from Rollies. Reeds and Thorne Bros may also carry them. Did I happen to mention black/flame???

Location: Chicago, Beverly | Tried to post this here over the weekend from my webtv at the lake...man do I hate that thing...
I like the Luretech Musky Mugger but think it may be a bit small from what your saying.. It weighs 1.25 oz. fully dressed(blades, skirt, feathers..)... Another one I like is the Charlie spinnerbait by Wisher Tackle out of Girad,Il That one is pretty dang weedless.. For the Musky Mugger check http://www.ebait.com and look for either "Luretech" or Musky Lures.. |
