I have been using soley 95 pound single strand for at least 4 years now. I use them for everything from jerkbaits to cranks to bucktails. I make my own using the 95 pound single strand with Berkley ball bearing swivels at 105 pounds and the number 3(I think...they are the 105 pound or so ones) Berkley cross locks. I will reuse the swivels but replace the cross locks with new.

I picked up a couple of seven strand leaders last fall to try them out. I am trying to decide if I want to go to the seven strand for my bucktails and small to medium cranks.

Does the 7strand give you any better action on your baits or does it increase strikes/hookups over the single strand??

What do you guys use for what?? And Why??

I use .041 for my solid leaders, and 60# Seven Strand for my soft leaders. Crankbaits and jigs behave better with the soft leader. I have not noticed any difference in hook-ups between the two at all.[8)]

I use .026 single strand and for almost everything. I have not been a big fan of 7 strand because I have seen that break. If you buy good components then you can make good leaders to last you the entire season. The trick is to buy good snaps and good ball bearing swivels. You can reuse the swivels a few times without a problem.

I make mine using both single strand (90 lb)for jigs & Sevenstrand (60 lb) leaders for everything else. It seems to me that the Sevenstrand (coated) leaders curl up much faster.

I make mine out of flourocarbon 60 and 80lb. seagar which is pure flourocarbon. Don't use a hybrid. I crimp mine and I don't crimp down on the edges of the crimp. Berkely ball bearing swivels are fine but their snaps are not. They weaken very easily. I use sampo crosslock snaps. They can take the abuse of changing baits.[:sun:]
