Is it me, or do muskie trips get so much better when you have some sort of "adventure" to go along with the fishing? Things like having to go back to the dock 3 times for emergency bathroom breaks (Luke), forgetting to take the tie downs off the Champ before launching (R_H), forgetting to charge the video camera batteries and forgetting the net (Mr. Worrall). It just seems like not only is the fishing that much better when unforseen adventures occur, but the trip as a whole is in some way enhanced. Or is it just me?
Not that I PERSONALLY have had any muskie adventures lately.....

Slammer

What are you talking about, I have heard of no stories from this weekend, nothing like my partner staying out all night saturday at the inlaw, I ask what time he went to bed, he says 1130am, I went a 12, wife 1am, he was still going. Sunday on the way to check he say stop turn around he forgot his glassed, as they sit on his face. At 11 on Sunday he score a 40" class fish and its in the net, we have savlaged the day, and should be in top 10, get judge boat, Treats and judge lay the fish on the board, it goes nuts, I am sitting there watching this waiting for one of them to pick up the fish, no its gone, no measure no money, no fantasy win. Good thing we didn't stick another fish, he would have really been sick. This is the worst he has felt about catching a fish.

Can't wait till Tonka

Little Lake X.Saturday afternoon, not long after the mad 43" decided she wanted my tail in a fig 8 as opposed to Slamr's suick.Too funny. We're moving along a break in about 17'of water. The phone rings(imagine that).Ralph on the line checking in.Short conversation, and as Slamr goes to put his phone in his pocket, it drops, bounces off the deck of the FFD and into the drink. The leather "case" holds it up just long enough where Slamr can grab it before it sinks. All in one motion, he bends waaaay over ,tosses the Frank Rod in the boat and grabs the phone from the surface.Problem is that his momentum carried him forward and it looked to me that he was doing a summer sault.SPLASH!Next thing I know, I've got this crazy man hanging onto the rail with eyes as big as saucers.Somehow his head was dry, so I pushed him under for good measure!Just kidding. He worked his way around the back and climbed in the boat.Haven't laughed that hard in a looooong time. The entertainment value was very high. That's what it's all about! I dont think I call them "adventures", but more like happenings.....things that happen during the trip that makes it worth remembering. A June camping Musky trip that turned into a trip to Howard Young...things like that.

I've noticed that since I built my lake home, I have less and less happenings and that trips up all kind of blend together. I miss staying in the motel, camping, boat launch idiots...etc etc. Another thing I miss is the McGyver creativity needed when you forget stuff at home....you know? making anchors out of logs, starting fires by syphoning gas out of the truck...stuff like that.
