The city, not the river! Had reason to visit this week, and was very impressed. This is a cool place to visit with very friendly people and a beautiful downtown. I had a great time here moving from one hotel to another due to the busy bustle of visitors. The beer is excellent, and despite the Chef's announcement at the Embassy Hotel and Suites that Ottawa has poor food, I found the meals to be very good and the service from a Graduating Marketing Communications Major in the bar/restaraunt outstanding. How close was I to the really good Muskie angling here? Please tell me far away....

Richard, how far was I from you, sir?

Steve,

You were so close that you should have been able to smell those fish!!!!

Many of the Muskies Canada Ottawa guys fish the river, some even cast from shore within the city limits. Hedrik Wachelka has taken a number of BIG fish using this exact technique, and I suspect there are others in the group who have as well. (The river actually runs right through the heart of downtown Ottawa.)

Richard Collins, John Anderson, and Marc Thorpe are all operating a short hop down the river, and Bill Craig is upriver.

Guess you should have packed a rod and a few baits eh?

Regards,
muskyboy

Ouch Steve when were you here? The big river openned today ( got one fish and a 54.5 x 24.5 to boot) but we could of showed you some other great waters in the area. There are at least 4 other great waters within 45 minutes of downtown Ottawa. By the way there is a river that runs right through Ottawa and dumps in the Ottawa river right downtown.

BTW I live 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa and the good fishing on the Ottawa River is within minutes of Downtown.

You need to do like Muskyboy and plan a couple of days of muskie fishing during your business stay in Ottawa. It resulted in his 2 biggest fish in the fall of 02.

Steve, I hope it's ottawa ontario and not ottawa illinois. The ottawa down by me is more noted for scantily clad women, not that I would know anything about it at all.
