My girlfriend's friend is getting married in Mt. Sterling, IL next May. She said we may be able to sneak in a day of musky fishing! So, here's my question - are their any decent muskie lakes close to Springfield? I'm from Appleton, WI, so it's long drive. Would like to go to Kincaid, but that's out of the question. Thanks for the help.

Tim

P.S. It's over memorial day weekend so I'm not real happy about traveling then but ya do what ya gotta do I guess.

Your closest lake with muskies would be Otter lake. The end of May should be an excellent time of year to be down there. Even though I have not been there yet I would start out on the south end. Otter is located south of Springfield and west of 55. Page 68 in your IL. Gazetteer.[:praise:]

Lake sprinfield has been stocked with musky but I am not sure of the status of the population. You also never hear anything about it. As big as it is if it was good we would hear.
