Headed to the northwest angle of LOTW in about a month, staying at Angle Outpost Lodge. I have marked maps, sorted baits, rigged rods, and could seemingly leave on a moments notice. However, I have certain critical issues unresolved. Any help is appreciated.

1. Is there a liquor store in MN (after crossing into Manitoba and then back into MN) or am I stuck with the 40 oz. limit?

2. I'll be in MN at the lodge, but have a Canpass and intend to fish Ontario waters. Where can I get a license?

3. Is there a grocery or convenience store in MN (after the above referenced border crossings) to stock up on essentials like beef jerky?

4. What do you wish you would have known before taking your first trip to the Angle?

Thanks for any help. I'll post a trip report upon my return.

There is a gas station just after you cross the border in sprag where you can pick up your licence, and there is a good bar on the angle were you can get the rest of the essentials.

The corner gas station mentioned in the previous post is the place to buy your license. There are a few spots on the water if needed. The one I have used in the past is near Windigo/Windfall Island.

We stock up pretty good on food before we leave. I would suggest doing the same. As for Alcohol, Grumpy's at Northwest Angle Resort has a nice mini-liquor store that should set you up. You'll see the signs, it is in the opposite direction from the US customs check point you will be turning to go to Angle Outpost.

I strongly recommend the RABC permit. It makes life a lot easier traveling to and from MN/CAN.

Consider hiring a guide for one day. It would shrink your learning curve considerably. A GPS and compass in combination with a hot spot map and navigational map is critical. Navigation with just a hot spot map is impossible.

Not much else to add besides you are in for the trip of your life! I leave in 14 days:) The wildlife is spectacular and the fishing awesome. I logged 13 fish in 7 days last July including a 5 fish day, my best day ever!!

Good luck and have a great time.

The alcohol limit is 1 liter or 1 case of beer per person....you can bring more but you will have to pay duties. The cost of the duties isn't as bad as the pain having to go inside customs to pay for it.

Bonnie Brae Resort on Oak Island used to have liquor sales. On/Off license.

You can get licquor/beer at either Grumpy's (West of Jim's corner just follow the signs), or at Jerry's which is
close to Young's Bay, and not far from Angle Outpost. Get your license at the corner Shell station at Sprague if
you are coming in during regular business hours, otherwise all the resorts on the Canadian side have them.

When you get to Jim's corner when coming in you will need to stop and report to US Customs (you were in Canada,
and now you are back in the US). There is a phone there just follow the instructions. Unless you have a RABCP you
will need to call Canadian custons each morning and report to them that you will be entering Canada for the day (this
has to be done every day). If you don't have the RABCP when you leave the Angle to go home you need to stop at
Jim's corner again and report to the Canadian customs as you are now entering Canada from the US. All this isn't as
bad as it sounds, and usually doesn't take more than a couple of minutes.

Water levels are quite high with water temps currently in the high 50's and low 60's. The muskies appear to have pretty
much finished spawning.

I forgot to mention that Angle Outpost has a small store where you can buy lots of different kinds
of grub, including beef jerky!
