| Hello chaps,
First post from the UK, virtual beers all round!
I am looking for a bit of simple advice on rigging and techniques for fishing with reapers for pike. Soft plastics have recently taken off in a huge way in the UK for pike and I'd like to give some reapers a proper bash. I have the standard 8 inch versions sold by R&H as well as some huge fellows about 13 inches long.
As information is hard to come by in the UK for fishing reapers I am at a bit of a quandry at the moment on best methods, etc. I have had some sucess on simple stand up jigs with a plain retrieve and some with the reapers fished unweighted on a swimming rig on/or just under the surface. Despite this, I can't help feeling that I'm missing a load of tricks that will help me put more fish onto the bank (not doing much boat fishing at the moment).
Any and all help gratefully recieved!
Thanks again,
Elliott

Location: Pittsburgh, PA | ive had the best success on rock humps that come up to around 12-22 feet, the deeper the surrounding water, the better. i just rig it with a 1 oz. jig, cast it out and pop it pretty hard (maybe 4-8 feet) off the bottom.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Cast the jig out, watch the line until it 'bows' which indicates the jig hit bottom. Point the rod directly at the jig and turn the reel handle FAST three times. Watch the line, when it 'bows' repeat. Weeds, rock, all structure, that's the way to catch big pike on a jig.
