What a beautiful opening morning for fishing in MN, overcast and light drizzle ;). Myself and Mrs. B stuck two battle scarred muskies between 8 and 9 am Saturday. Mine was a healthy 51"er and hers a slim 43"er. No other fish moved Saturday. Went out this am and had 3 low 40" follows, none very aggressive. A great start to the season for us, how about the rest of you?

later,

No pictures yet, but managed on Saturday morning in 4 hours: 39-1/2, 40. 41, and a 42. Sunday was a bust as well. Could not have asked for a better opening day condition with the clouds slight rain and front approaching. AWESOME!!

You couldn't have bought better weather. Sat: 37, 38, and 51" with 4 more that were hot from 40-50". Too bad that storm rolled in so soon.

Got chased off by lightning after only an hour and a half. Went back later in the day and had 4 fish up before I got chased off by the weather again. I think I picked the wrong lake to start on. Two pretty hot that came in real late, and two real lazy. Three were on the Wabull. First time throwing that bait and I love it.

Back out Sunday night with nothing to show for it, expect witnessing a rather serious and unfortunate boating accident.

Being the dummy that I am and forgetting to charge the batteries on Friday night, I had to let them charge for a couple hours Saturday morning.

So I made it out on WBL for a couple hours after noon. Saw 3 real small ones. These things must have just been stocked 2 years ago. Probably only 16" long. Really cool looking though as their spots were really pronounced.

My son caught a 34'er (Tiger) on Saturday morn on B.E. Had 2 others on along with a few follows. Sunday only one follow but it was a very impressive fish. Sunday eve. I was on WBL. Couple small follows and had one pop at a jackpot. Helped a walleye fisherman unhook and release a nice mid 30's right after dark. He caught it trolling a small rapala with 6 lb. test right in front of me.

Treats goes big for MN opener, great job. Was at winstock friday/saturday, got home sunday hoping to hit the water all day, ended up stepping on daughters hair clip and sticking it in my foot. Was able to get out and stand on it for couple of hours, ended up with 31 and 29 tigers, and mid 30 norhtern. Atleast got the new boat broke in.

Good luck

Nothing to brag about, but I stay on the water. With 366 views and 8 replies, looks like two percent of fishermen scored. REALLY, HOW GOOD WAS THE MINNESOTA OPENER?

It was definitely windy on 'tonka - east wind for six days now, plus the lake is up at least a foot since Saturday.

Keep your line wet.

Wish I could someday catch four on the opener up to 51"!

Sat. went to the St. Croix River, water was 8 ft. higher than the week before and in the trees. 3 hrs. fishing...skunked. Move to WBL. 2 hrs. fishing skunked. Saw 0, hooked 0, boated 0. Poor choices.

Sunday went to Tonka. Fished shallow mostly due to sunshine. Saw 6, had two bites, hooked one, boated 0. No big fish, all three footers or so. Should have fished the deep edge all day. I'll be doing that both Sat. and Sun. We'll see if my results improve.
