Aside of what I can imagine Slamr doing[;)], what do the rest of you do since your lakes freeze, your butts freeze, your seasons close.....are there hobbies of various types taking place....does the birth rate increase.....is there a T.V. in every room.....are there more domestic altercations due to the closeness of family units.....do you secretly wish you were "down here" sitting on the veranda swatting flies while quaffing various flavored sodas during this time of year.....after 3-4 months of frozen depression do you suddenly rise from your Barco Loungers + run half naked into the frosty night screaming "I can't take anymore"!!!!??? Hope I didn't screw up anyones Christmas!!!LOL.......[;)] [:0] [:sun:]

Speaking for the folks in the Great White North, not a CHANCE!!! We LOVE our sub-zero nights. We delight in massive snowfalls, bitter winds, and ice fishing. We have Snowmobile Races, Cross Country Skiing, Tip Ups, Snowshoes, Fireplaces, wood heaters, and MuskieFIRST to keep us happy...........[:sun:]

I fish walleyes and saugers on the Mississippi River until there's enough ice to go fish for gills in the backwaters. There's also the late bow season for those of us who didn't score in the first part. Coyote hunting can be fun on a moonlit night. And if you'd like to have some real fun Spongy, you can join my crew for a week and dig up broken watermains in the middle of the night. With you on the job we wouldn't need a pump, we would just have to wring you out alot.

I'll move up there but no night digging....better at soaking up rays + Coke Colas! Got the S.B. books...thanks!!! Little Sponge popped them open last night + we colored a few pages....I'm sending a box out tomorrow w/ a few things in it that I meant to send a month ago but...anyway let me know when you get it so I can have faith in my job once again! Wife said she would seriously consider a move but my parents are getting up there + would kill me if I took sponge Jr. away from here....I'm burned out + need something different but who knows...maybe we could come up that way + least check the areas out to see. Would be my luck the postmaster would end up heading that way!![:(] [:sun:]

No closed season for me. The ice, cold and having to give up the garage space will tell me it's time. Plenty of sport shows to go to. Every weekend as a matter of fact. By the time I get home from work during the week and eat and see the message boards and a little of that other stuff, it's beddy by time.[]

Spongey:
Running naked through the frozen night air would be interesting. I am going to as many shows as i can and will play with my son. Today he discovered the coolest new toy...newspaper!!!! he was going ape s*#* crinkling it and ripping it apart. I guess things are not that much different between a 6 month old and a 34 year old. By spring time i should be about ready to burst. God i hope my wife deal with it!!!!![]

Spongee, I happen to be one of the few up here in the Great White North that will actually admit that Winter really sucks x a million. Mostly what we do up here is find other ways of so called enjoyment to pass the time. Ice fishing is great but if you catch say, even 50 pounds of ice, it still just melts into a big puddle when you try to cook it. Just try to dig a basement in one of those ice shanties, you could drown doing that. Talk about snowmobiling, thats just a way to slink around from saloon to saloon. Ok maybe I'll give you guys that one. LOL Sport shows are probably the best form of recreation but I don't have enough dinero to be able to attend all of them. Seems like I have this uncontrollable urge to buy stuff at every one of them. That leaves working on tackle making bucktails etc. I allready have a whole room full of stuff that I'll never use. But you know, when you come in out of the cold for a cup of hot chocolate or a hot toddy, maybe a bowl of homemade soup or chili you gotta think that it just don't get much better than this.
Hope this explains things a little bit. WE ARE ALL NUTS, but then we do fish for Muskies.[] []

As Always, Let EM Go...Letr Em Grow.....Mike[]

Spongy,in winter we build our homes out ice and snow in Canada.Locals call them igloos.
Tough beginning this year,we are all scambling for leaves until the snow falls. You cant own too much furniture as the moves are brutal. Our migrations take us up the coast of fat burgers and extra weight for the long winters.Coca cola stocks drop until spring.
We must rely on the St Lawrence water for hydration!
Got 2 snow flakes to place

I use the winter to get my biga$$ list of honey dew's done that I hvae accumulated over the summer. This translates into earning silver bullets which I cash-in for extra fishing time.

This year she’s got me booked for the entire period between sport shows and what I hope will be a very early spring arrival. After painting four rooms, cleaning the basement, building shelves in the basement (see cleaning basement), cleaning the garage, building storage in garage (see cleaning garage), moving all the furniture in the house (2 x) so we can replace the carpet, hanging curtains and probably shoveling snow a dozen times, I will be VERY ready to get back to a long summer of neglecting the house.

Jeff, don't want to hear that, especially if I'm going to be sharing a shack with you this year.

I like toi chase big pike through the ice almost as much as I like to chase the green ones. Put my order in for smelt last week, am greasing my tip ups now, and have my 1X VMC's ready to rock!!

I love to chase bluegills too, and hope to learn some more lakes near my home this winter. I put my summer stuff away the day before yesterday, and a sad day it was.

Jeff-

I'm betting there won't be a whole lot of the 3rd either. I do believe you are married if I remember correctly. I know how that stuff goes.

Hey, wait a minute, isn't Jason missing some teeth???

Don't even go there.

C'mon Scott, lets keep it clean, though I do have dentures now.

Jeff, where did you get your smelt. I got a few pounds coming from a friend, but am having trouble finding the bulk stuff.

I smelt, one time. A long time ago. The snow MELTED!!! This is crazy. My son has an appointment doing a creel count for the DNR for ice fishing....only ice fishing going on up here is in a Captain's and Coke glass.
