What time do you think is best morning or evening and any lures best for these times? Early morning has less boat traffic but I've heard evening bite is better. Any suggestions? (Lake Minnetonka)

Evening is best for me (and I like it the best), but early morning is often overlooked. Both are great times to avoid pressure. Same with nightfishing. In the evening I love tossing topwater baits like Jackpots and Topraiders. In the mornings I usually start out with Spinnerbaits and Bucktails. At night I tend to use jointed crankbaits.

jimus - Tonka is a great lake in the am. Come the heat of the summer, you'll want to be off around 11:30/noon unless you like all that boat traffic business. I started a little evening/night fishing last year and after the am fishing, I'll then take a break, have a few cold one's, mow the lawn, have an early dinner, play with the kids and head out for a few more hrs in the evening. I had little success last year, but will try evening more this year due to a new job and my work/family committments!

An answer based more on logic than experience: Predators, including muskies, generally have superior low-light vision to their prey species, so any low-light period is productive, because it's an advantageous time to seek prey. But morning has a greater incentive: going into the increased light levels, you haven't eaten all night, and the sooner you hunt the greater your vision advantage and the sooner you're satisfying your hunger. [You're a muskie, remember, so no hangovers to spoil appetite or performance.] Now add the scarcity of early-rising muskie fishermen, and dawn seems to be the better time, except when cold water keeps fish sluggish until later in the day.

All night long!! The big girls definitely come out more in the dark and we don't! They didn't get that big because they're stupid.......fish come shallow after dark.....

I have found the greater the boat traffic and fishing pressure, the better the morning bite. I have seen some of these lakes be like this in very early spring and late fall as well. It seems they need time to recoup after it's been beat to death during the day. Evening bite seems to be nowhere near as good as morning.
