We hit Pelican this late morning under cloudy skies and cool temps. My start battery SOMEHOW was dead! Thanks to another generous MuskieFIRST member who was coming in off the water ( they got a 38 and moved a couple), I borrowed a set of jumper cables and we were on our way.

Slamr scored a 40" on a 6" Hughey and I moved one about the same size on a Suick. I had to come in to assist scoring the Live Leader Board for the $400,000 plus RCL out in Devils Lake, North Dakota. We are hitting Lake George this evening after the RCL is over.

Unlike Kly, Slamr is 6' tall, FSF. We got two measurements in the Frabill Pro Tech cradle, which is a very cool addition to my release gear. It was 40" on the nose.

We ended up on Crescent this evening hoping the cloudy skies and front moving through would move the fussy fish there. I missed a maybe legal on a Violent Strike Magnum Charmer, and didn't move another fish all evening in the wind and rain.

Same bait Mr. Bukes! Unlike your ____ glider, this bait is for MUSKIE not pike! High Rollers all around, well at least all around my tacklebox! Actually this is my one HR (high roller) in a 6" perch patterned hughey, so it gets its time. I think thats fish #6 on this little guy since last spring: not the best performer, not the worst, but it does what I want it to do when I want it to do it (consistent side to side from 1-4ft down with belly roll)....all I can ask for really. Getting it in front of fish is my job, not the lure's.
If you need a suggestion for a place to buy one, you MIGHT want to read a bit lower on my post (hint hint, sponsor pro-team guy type plug here).

With all the success you have with those High Rollers, I can't see why you even waste precious casting time dangling your meat over the side of the boat. They seem to take the "where to place the bait" factor out of the equation... almost AUTOMATIC. Although it is cool when you see a musky come in and snatch and swim off with your meat in its mouth.

Whats the ran$om for one of them High Rollers @ Reese's? Do you think they will take a trade on my _____ glider... seems to be one hell of a pike bait! Does Reese's have any good financing rates? I know interest rates are rising but, I hope they can work a good rate for me my credit is decent.

Congrats on the nice fish... maybe you should fish WI exclusively.

Pelican is very clear right now, and Slamr's fish hit close enough to the boat that I saw her coming and watched her T-Bone the bait. In fact, I told Slamr he had the fish on just befroe he set the hook. She popped the glider on a pause, an absolute classic hit. We got some of the fight on video, too.

We spent the day pounding Pelican today in really nasty winds and frog strangler rains, moving only one fish of an undefined type on a Top Raider. It was wet, cold, windy, and plain nasty with gusts to 31 MPH here, but was otherwise a perfect day for fishing. Would you believe there were jet skis out there? Temps were only in the low 50's, but that didn't stop them.

Mr. Slamr has lost ALOT of weight. He works out every day (even here while on a fishing trip) and is all about trimming down to fightin' weight. I would no longer classify him as 'wide'.

Slamr nice fish. I raised several fish on my 6" huey beaver rejects. No takers on them, got one on an x-glide instead.
