| I am going to Hayward WI on a fishing trip, what type of bait should I use to catch me a helluva Musky?

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | well buddy, it depends on the body of water, water temp, local weather, etc. HOWEVER, you should be targeting water with a little color to it, or more. A little stain, go with more natural patterns. Alot of color, go with more guady colors. This early in the season, I like small bucks and rizzo wizzes, as well as some small slammers. Fish the timber and any weed groth you can find. If you strike out, don't get bummed. Just fish your fish, and enjoy the trip. If Muskys were easy, every panfisherman would be out there doing it. Think the three S,s this time of year small,slow and shallow. look for new weed growth or timber along the shore. Geta shapener for the hooks and use good leaders and equipment. Were your polaroids. If you check this board out, there are a lot of great sticks, and there are a lot of fish caught, but we have to put our time in. If you stick with it, and find good structure as suggested above, you will stick a fish. Try ripping some Slammer minnowbaits in the timber and the weeds. Easy to do, and the spring fish love 'em.

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | Cranks, cranks, and more cranks! Cranks are one of the most versatile lures out there that work all season long. The key with cranks is to work them erratically. Go with a perch pattern which works everywhere. I prefer fishing breaklines and deep water, but it takes a little more patience than fishing a weedbed. I would stick to weeds, timber, and rock piles when just beginning. Learn what each bait can and can't do, and keep an open mind.
