Slamr reports that there are many boats in Lithia Springs. He has seen three fish caught, and has them photographed. He will get them loaded to the site as soon as he can get online down there.

Boat 70 has a 39.25, 54 has a 38, 70 has a 39.25 we know of so far.

More to come!!!

What a crazy morning so far! The MuskieFIRST On the Water Reporting boat has just got off the water for our first report of the day, and its definitely a very UNIQUE situation out here for the second qualifier for the PMTT series.
The day started off chilly and windy, with just a mild breeze, water temps are hovering around 67 degrees with very little chop on the water. Steve Jonesi and I got a late start today and after speaking with a few anglers casting off the shores of the areas near Eagle Creek and south to the dam, we headed in to Lithia Springs. Though we had heard of some action, and witnessed a 38" caught by team #54, the real action was to be had inside Lithia Springs. Over 50 boats are forming a crazed merry-go round of muskie hunters primarily dragging, but also casting in pursuit of the prize fish.
As of 11:20AM we can confirm 10 fish being caught and measured by the two judges patrolling Lithia Springs Cove. The biggest we have seen and photographed measured in at 39.5" and was boated by Team #70. Action seems to be coming on short AND long line trolling smaller sized baits in hot colors.
So far we can pretty accurately account for these totals:

37" - Ben Molica and partner

35" - Team #43

36" - Team #7

38.5" - Team #2

34" - Team # 91

36.5" - Team #45

39.25" - Team #70

38" - Team #54

36.25" - Team #24

In addition to these totals, I ASSURE you more fish have been caught, and we have seen a number of short fish boated and released. We can also assure all of you that all fish we have seen caught, netted and released have been handled in the professional, contiencious manner expected of a tournament series such as the PMTT. ALL fish when placed back in the water have swum off strong, with a few treating their prior captures to a face full of water.
We're off in seek of lunch, then back to the water, MORE LATER!

Just got off the water at days' end, though I dont have the official Day 1 Results just yet, we can say that the action slowed down considerably, but that some larger fish have been caught!
When the MuskieFIRST Media boat hit the water for the afternoon, we headed straight for Lithia Springs, only to see it even more of a madhouse as the day progressed! As mad as the water was being pounded, the fish definitely weren't showing themselves as much. We witnessed from 1PM to around 2:45PM a number of smaller fish being boated, though just after that time a feeding window opened, and a 41.5 was caught by Steve Rustenburg and Duane Landemier, which at that point gave them a total of 3 fish in the boat, which gives the impression of them being in the lead at this point.
Other fish we can confirm caught in the afternoon:

32.25" - Team #74

34.5" - Team unknown, but told to us by a judge boat

42", 35.25" - Team #42

The media team is stinky from a long day on the water, I need a shower, then off to the post day one gathering, where we will be able to get the full and complete scoop on the first day's results.

Check the Live Leader Board for full numbers of today's results, but we can tell you a bit about what we have found has bred to success for the leaders, and for those overall who are catching fish.....
Consistency and sticking to the game plan seems to be the key for the teams in the lead right now. They are committed to their patterns, and are basically working the same bodies of water consistently until fish are landed. As far as we can pin point, those in the lead are focusing their efforts towards trolling long and short lines with large AND small baits in hot colors in relatively small areas. Back and forth today's leader, the team of Landumeir and Rustenburg, is trolling through Lithia Springs, as Mike Hulbert observed "they never veired 10ft" from their trolling passes.
This is what we're seeing today, who knows what tomorrow will bring.
