Each of us has our own expectations for a good day of muskie fishing....mine personally are that I get out, get to NOT be surrounded by pleasure boaters, dont break anything expensive, and get to chase muskies. Unless I'm stuck with someone who keeps me out on the water pounding long after it is apparent no fish are going to come to the boat.....I'm happy to just be fishing!
What makes a good muskie day for you?

Mega Dittos! I even keep an ultra light pole in my car at all times for the carp in town. I can't go thru town without stopping, just gotta fish!
I very badly want to pop a 50 this year and will fish hard for her (48 was tops last year), however, fishing is not working, it isn't kids crying, clients whining, mowing the lawn, etc.

The night before even just a day trip to Lake St Clair I have trouble sleeping. Just can't wait to get fishing. Catching is a bonus!

Just being out and fishing, then breaking and losing nothing, and catching a fish is a bonus.

Good fishing

1st day of a muskie trip -- just being on the water on my favorite lake
2nd day -- by now I would love to catch one but if not at least be seeing some fish
3rd day-- starts to get hard if neither I nor my partner have caught one

flip side

a day with a muskie caught
a multiple fish day
a personal best
my fist legal--the only place I fish they have to be 54 inches so no luck yet. Seen her tho

"What Constitutes a Good Day of Muskie Fishing?" For me a good day is getting out there and seeing fish chasing baits.. A great day of course is actually getting one to bite. As for the pleasure boaters thing... Randy now makes sure I do not have firearms on me when I get on his boat... He seems to think I get too violently pissed off when they come between us and the shore we are fishing... HEY, just because I backlashed when i tried to cast my bait at that guys head doesn't mean I am bad..does it?

A good day Muskie fishing is any day I can fish for Muskies. If one hits the net, then it's a GREAT day. I am not all hung up on big fish, either. The only difference between a 35" fish and a 50" fish is the fact one is larger than the other. Both are a challenge, both are an accomplishment, and I still get the shakes from netting any Muskie over 30".

A good day is one that I can fish for muskies. A succesfful day for us is two fish in the boat. Anything less and it's a slow day at.

To me it has to be multiple fish in the boat but will settle for one or two if one's over 40 inches. Nothing wrong with a fishless day or only one in the net.

I can't be picky, a good day really is seeing fish chase, and a great day is really only one caught... anything more is a bonus i would love. I've had way too few two fish days to say that only one in the boat is slow...lol...

Its not a good day for me unless I catch a muskie. It can be a small one, but I have to catch one to consider it a good day.

Any day above ground and on the water is a good day. I don't get all hung up on how many or how big.

If you work hard to catch fish, all the rest will take care of it's self.

If I'm on the water, it's a good day.
If i see a fish or 2, it's a better day.
If I land a fish and see a few more , it's a real good day.
More that that is a day that I live for.

A good day is when you get stomped in a tourney, and afterwards the winners buy all the loosers beer. That's what I call a great day.

I don't consider it a good day until I limit out...

-strength ran out
-beer ran out
-time ran out
-battery juice ran out
-kitchen pass ran out
-light ran out
etc. etc.

If I get to go, it's all good...

A hat trick!!!

For those of you that are not aware of what a hat trick is you may want to ask Oneida Esox MRoberts or Jlong.

Making it back to the pier/launch without being hit or hitting my partner with a bait....anything else is just a bonus.

The Hat Trick would be a double bonus...got to get the little lady in on that one.

I still think the old saying applies, YOUR WORST DAY FISHING IS BETTER THAN YOUR BEST DAY AT WORK!

A day out musky fishing is a great day in and of itself, but multiple fish caught and released in a day is great production!

Just spending time out on the water is the biggest bonus because I am out doing something that I absolutely love to do. Whatever weather conditions , or fishing by myself or with friends or a client, before sunrise, midday, nighttime, just to be out in the boat that constitutes a great day of muskie fishing!! Dave J

How's this for a good day; first 15 minutes a 45 incher than over the course of the day I hooked 7 fish over 40 out of the 7 I hooked I landed a 41.5 and a 40.
Check them out, Jeff

I'm one of those guys that keeps pounding all day, because it's never apparent to me that no fish are coming into the boat. It only takes one.
