Location: ashtabula ohio | i was just reading about these a week ago and wouldnt you know it yesterday my motor only steers left . i remember guys talking of spraying wd40? they look pretty simple to take apart. is it a matter of just cleaning some contacts and lubing it or is it tanked? and yes it is just starting its 3rd year... |

| Lucky,
If the pedal is DOA, I believe you can purchase the circuit board seperately instead of buying the whole pedal. However, I think you only save about $10 going that route, but with the price of gas lately, that could mean an extra 5 gallons of gas for your tank. I wind up buying a new pedal every year, heck I would be pleased as punch to get three years out of mine. Good luck to you. |

| We just had that problem. Our foot pedal began giving us fits when it would turn much slower to the right than to the left. Then when you'd go to push down the pedal to get her goin', she'd either not go or wait a couple seconds. If you shifted your weight while still keeping your foot down on the pedal it would stop the motor. Fortunately, she's just completed one full year, so it was covered under warranty. I'll second what Mike said about it being DOA. Pop for a new one and you won't be disappointed. |

When mine started to go belly up... I cleaned it up good and tossed it in my dry storage to serve as a spare should disaster strike my primary pad. Having a back-up (even if not functioning at 100%) is a good idea for longer trips. Imagine going to LOTW and having your footpad puke on day 1 of a 7 day trip!!!
Prevention helps too. Once I started stowing the footpad during trailering or at least tucking it up tight in the bow the life expectancy of my footpads got much better. Sand is a killer.

| Sand is a killer.
I have found that every time mine starts to get whacked, I dunk it in the water and that usually solves the problem.

| I had this same problem last fall...day 1 of 6 day trip...grrr...
Anyway, I inquired as to why there was little difference in reparing the pedal as opposed to buying a new one and it had something to do with Minn-Kota having a stocking fee that drove the price of the board up. So I got the new pedal and have the old one in the boat as the "if the world exploded" spare.
I am very careful not to abuse my stuff but needless to say I am expecting the new pedal I have to go out at the worst possible moment...it always seems to happen that way. |

| Maybe we can make one good one out of yours and mine. Mine turns fine to the right, but takes ten minutes to turn back to the left. The two year warranty just ended, go figure!!!!!

Location: St. Germain, Wi | I solved that problem by keeping the foot peddle in a compartment. I got a co pilot last year and love it. |

| Get yourself a spare foot pedal. It could also be the main powerhead for the motor. Had to have mine replaced 2 years ago because it kept burning out my foot pedals either by not turning one direction or by placing your foot on the pedal and taking your foot off and the motor keeps going. Hopefully you just have a bad foot pedal but keep these things in mind. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at the website below.
