Subject: Installing transducer????

Hi there, I have a question about installing a transducer on my boat. I have a Crestliner fish hawk and I bought a bottomline tournament 5100. I am wondering if I can install the transducer right to the transom or should I get a wooden mounting plate and screw the transducer to the wooden plate??? Really not sure what to do so any input would be great help!

Thanks Guys,

Steve

Steve, you should just mount the transducer right to the hull. I had to install a speed/temp sensor on my boat and yes it can make you nervous driling holes in your boat below the waterline. Just use some silicone on the screws and you should be fine. Make sure the transduver is level.

Gotta disagree with you here, Todd. I'd get the Rig Rit board, and mount that first, using silicone, both on the srews, and along the edges of the board where it meets the hull. These baords are only $10, and are great if you need to add, move, or change transducers.
