I just wanted to put a post up here to ENCOURAGE all muskiefirsters to get together and meet each other on the water. I'm thinking this because of last weekends "bring your meat meet" out on Oukachee. 12 of us got together, met for lunch kept each other abreast of what was going on fish-wise, and some nice fish were caught. My thought on this outting was not that we had a great time, but that it was members of MuskieFIRST who set it up, got everyone there and did the planning. I went and fished it because it was a great idea, not because MuskieFIRST as a company set it up. I'd love to see more members using the board to get together and meet up with more muskie fisherman from their area.....like a muskie fisherman's personals site. Weird way of putting it eh?

That's a great comment Slamr. It was a great time on the water. I recall doing a similar outing on the Fox Chain last fall. It was great to meet a bunch of the board guys, and do some fish'n. (even though it was nothing like the fishing on Okauchee)

I don't know about calling it the MuskieFirst personals though, I don't know if I want to date any of you freaky characters.

In all seriousness though, it is a great thing to do. Get out and plan some trips. You will learn alot, and have a great time.

Be careful what you wish for. I might take you up on this, and be the skunk at the lawn party. I've never actually met ANYbody on this sight live and for real. Are you sure you want a complete stranger (well, stranger than most, anyway) to show up? Believe me, I won't be offended if you dial this back to only include the guys who know each other already. [I worry about stuff like this.]

Sounds good!
I live in Andover. MN (north of Anoka/Coon Rapids) I fish a bunch of Metro lakes,
but spend most of my time on 'Tonka. I also make trips to MilleLacs, Leech, Vermilion
and Miltona.

I usually fish alone -- us 'freaks' have trouble making friends. Nobody else wants
to get up and hit the water at midnight. Or drive 3 1/2 hours to fish for the day and drive
home that night.

I would like to find some fellow 'freaks" that fish the Metro and other MN lakes.

Hey Fish-in-Freak,

I am in the same boat as you are. I live in Prior Lake and I fish Tonka all the time and I head up to Mille Lacs several times a year. I usually go solo, so if you want to hook up some time, I am game. I have never fished Leech, and would love to head up there with someone who knows the water some.

Mike and FishNFreak,
We'll need to get out this year. I live in MPLS near the Ford plant and have a boat in the garage ready to go any time.

In fact I am hoping to hit somewhere in S Wisconsin next weekend for Friday-Saturday-Sunday (my bday is may 14, so I am planning to fish a long weekend as my gift to me.). Will either hit a cheap hotel or stay in Lake City MN with a buddy.

We'd have to stay south of Hwy 10, which is basically a line straight east from the cities. Water temps should be hitting 60 in some spots if we have decent weather.

Wanna go?

I might be up for something like that PapaJoe. My b-day is May 15th. I was planning on fishing Minnetonka for walleye, but I would much rather go to Wisconsin. I will have to check with my wife to make sure she doesn't have anything planned already. I will let you know what the verdict is tomorrow.

I've been fishing with guys from this site since it began that July. I started with GregM and at last count, I have probably fished with over 40 other MFers. This is by far my favorite site, even though I've been spending time lately at WF. I've met and fished with quite a few over there, too.

Hey, I might even get after some Pewaukee ski's this week. Anybody gonna be out?

I'm also in the Twin Cities, but I'm boatless down here, except for a canoe. I've fished 'Tonka a few times, in my buddies boat. I really don't get out much, except of when I'm up on Vermilion. What's a good bait for 'Tonka?

I am also in the Twin Cities area. Buffalo actually, 1 hour west.

I would definitely be interested in hooking up with some of you guys. Only musky fishing partner I have is my dad and he isnt into it as much as I am. I can usually swipe his boat whenever I want.

I have only fished Tonka once, but would love to fish it a few times with somebody who knows what they are doing.

Sounds fun,,dont forget that the North Metro chapter has a fishing league durring the summer too in the Metro area,,,,Remember all get togethers have to be less then 25 boats in Minn or you need a permit

Sounds like we have a few Metro guys -- I have been doing this for 20 years
and have fished many different MN lakes. I now focus on Minnetonka locally and
Vermilion if I am driving any distance. Last year I had a great year in both
numbers and size. Sure hope I can do as well this year.

I would be happy to show anyone around on any lake. I would be willing to use
my boat or yours. I have an Alumacraft Tournament Pro 195, very wide and stable.
Pretty easy to fish three out of, if we all work together. My season won't start until
late June, but then I will be hitting the water hard and often.

Keep in touch, it would be fun to hook-up with a few guys this summer and not
spend everyday by myself. Warning -- I do fish some off hours in the metro
lakes. I do spend a lot of time in the dark.
