| Do you classify yourself as a looker only? Meaning, do you only want find information that will help yourself? Or do you consider yourself a poster that is willing to help others? Am I incorrect in stating that there's more lookers on most sites than posters? |

We welcome all visitors, and are very happy to have the excellent conversation on the boards we all have grown so accustomed to.
Slamr, you are definitely not a 'looker'. If you were, you would be on a 'poster'. |

| I am a looker AND a poster. Likely, most folks wish I were more of a looker than a poster. Can't blame them a bit. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | I can vouch for both ToddM & Ranger- they're both lookers- just turn them loose in Hooters and you'll definitely confirm they are lookers!. But they do once in a while post some truely insightful tidbits of advice, visa vi muskie fishing. So read carefully. Now Sponge - he's a real poster, but he put the whole site through withdrawl when he went on a saltwater sabattical.
Slamr- He's the cyber cop-so be careful - no dissing on MF or you will be in the MF cyber jail.
Have fun- there's a great bunch of dedicated MF regulars that share an awful lot of info on muskie fishing with the cyber wanderer's. Have fun.
If ToddM posted that many times, how many has he read?

I'll post once in a while. Heck, I'm not too shy to even ask a dumb question now and then.
I'm glad there are lookers. I hope they are not shy if they have a question. |

| I've given this initial post some thought. Truth be told, me, I use this board as an opportunity to socialize w/ folks w/ similair interets. Met some GREAT people here. You all know who you are! Some of you even tolerate me in person. Ha! Got you fooled, eh?

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I read everything on this site. In that sense I am a looker. I also see it as a responsibility to add to the content as well, without those adding posts no one would have anything to learn from. I will guarantee you that this year there will be at least three fish that I catch that will be the direct result of something I gleaned off of this board. I guarantee three, it could be a lot more.
I beg of all lookers or lurkers or whatever name you prefer, please feel free to chime in at any and all times. That is how we keep learning. |

| I was originally only a looker. But that was because I didn't have anything to offer due to my lack of experience on most of the topics. Now that I have a little more experience and have learned a few things I consider myself a looker and poster. My feeling is why not help someone else because I have gleened so much from all the other posters. Personally, I wish the users who only look would add some of there expertise to the discussion becasue it would only help us all. Also, sometimes it upsets me that people who read the posts and gain knowledge from them only for self fullfilment. |

Location: Hugo, Mn | I am still in "looker" mode. I started muskie fishing a year ago or so and still am learning alot. This board has helped me excellerate up the curve and I appreciate the expert advice given. Someday, hopefully I will have the knowledge to be more of a poster and answer someone else's questions. For know I visit the board daily and soak up as much as I can and try to put it to use.
Thanks to all the posters!!!

I have the muskie bug bad but only get to really fish them a week or so a year so I chime in where I have had good experience or my reading of magazines or books or the web sites allows me to synthesize something with possiblities but It would be presumptous to act like I was even close to an expert. Ergo few posts but hardly a parasite |

| I have found contributing to be even more productive than lurking. People will remember when you respond to one of their questions. I have made alot of good friends from these message boards by sharing information. It comes back to you ten fold. There is no question to stupid or a bad answer. Remember one thing, even a negative reort or information is good information. Eliminating things to do or try is alot of the battle. Always feel free to be apart of wha goes on here.

There is no such thing as 'too much info'. I would hope one could share what one WANTS to share here, without fear of bashing. |

Location: Ogden, Ut | I used to be a looker exclusively, but I found that this board in particular was extremely receptive to even a relative novice's observations and comments. It gave me a level of comfort that other boards really didn't. I have gleaned a ton of info off the site and have hopefully contributed in at least a small way. I usually only comment on my own experience w/ tigers or on fisheries biology/management, but love to chime in on a humor thread every once in a while too . My muskie opportunities are quite limited out here in Utah, so I have to do a lot of fishing vicariously through a lot of the good folks posting the messages here. I would love to get involved in one of the 'get-togethers' sometime in the future, but w/ 2 small boys in the house now, that will have to get back-burnered for a while. So, you guys will all have to come visit me! Still in pursuit of the 50" tiger...

Location: Alexandria, MN | I do both, I will look at most topics and post on the ones that I have something
to add. If I want to add a question or comment, then I do -- otherwise I read and
move on. Being from MN and not fishing Wisconsin, Illinois or Indiana -- I am not
familiar with many of the lakes mentioned. If it's a basic fishing question or a MN based
question, then I will get involved.
Good luck! Still another month to wait here:-(

I used to just look and think if I posted something stupid people would rip on it.
Here are a few reasons to post:
Any imput is good imput.
Your post may help someone with less experiance.
People get to know you and may share more info with you via private message or e-mail.
Tips and tricks that work for you may work for others on different waters.
You might make someone laugh, I know their is some great humor on this site.
Yes you might get picked on once your a regular---Like the EXTREME backlash.
Its all about learning and sharing info.
Your going to make new friends, learn different water, patterns, tips, tricks and all that good stuff.
Join in and post a few times, it gets addicting.

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Just a few thoughts on the subject:
*the guy who caught ONE fish last year can help the guy that caught 200 fish if what he caught it on was something different, in a new pattern that the guy who caught those 200 fish hadnt thought of.
*the answers to the question that you feel is a "dumb question" will probably answer the same question for other people who also feel like it is a "dumb question"
My Personal Gurantee: AS THE MAIN MODERATOR OF THIS SITE I WILL NEVER ALLOW ANY USER, FROM THE ANON TO THE 3000 POSTS ADDICT, TO "RIP ON" ANYONE FOR VOICING THEIR WELL STATED, NON ABUSIVE THOUGHTS OR OPINIONS. NO QUESTION IS A STUPID QUESTION, AND NO POSTS WILL BE LET TO STAY UP THAT EVER MAKE THE QUESTION OUT TO APPEAR IN THAT MANNER.
MuskieFIRST is where it is because of the users of the site. Without the input and questions of muskie fisherman ranging from 30 year veterans or pros to the 2 days a year muskie nut.....we would be nothing but an information source in terms of tourney results and articles. The goal of MuskieFIRST is to create a COMMUNITY where muskie enthusiasts from throughout the WORLD can share ideas, ask questions, and get to know more muskie fisherman. One of my goals for 2004 was to find MORE and BETTER ways to make the site, the community that is MuskieFIRST, even MORE interactive. The interactive nature of M1st starts at the message board, and there is NO WAY any one or two negative people is going to stand in the way of the community growing, and giving people a feeling that they have a safe place to interact with other muskie fisherman.
If you dont feel comfortable asking questions, do NOT feel any pressure to do so. MuskieFIRST is here for muskie guys and gals to enjoy in their own way. BUT PLEASE DO NOT EVER FEEL AS THOUGH YOU CANT BE ACTIVE ON THE BOARD, OR AT OUTTINGS, OR IN THE CHAT ROOM BECAUSE OF HOW OTHERS ARE GOING TO ATTACK YOU. This doesn't happen now, and as long as I'm working with MuskieFIRST, it wont. Not on my watch. |
