| Ok, had more follows than I care to mention on opening day on Little Green. The only bait that was moving fish were Suicks. I'm relatively new to muskie fishing, so I am kind of at a loss at how to turn following fish on with Suicks. Maybe it was just "one of those days" with the fish being sluggish, but we had multiple fish up to the boat that would turn away as soon as we went into our figure-8's. We tried throwing back at them with Bulldawg's, Jakes, Cranes, you name it. So what I'm asking, what do you guys do with your Suicks for following fish? Or, do you go to a throw back-bait? |

| Hey Eric,
In the early season I throw almost all 7" Suicks at the fish. This technique has worked quite well for me in the past few years.
As far as figure 8'ing the bait, just keep it moving at boat side with the same momemtum and speed that you were working it. I usually have around 5'-7' of line out when I start my figure 8. Move the bait just like you would any other at boatside. Good luck to you!

| Suicks are great baits in the past as well as now. Its action is deadly and keep working the glide and pause during two to three figure eights. If you don't get a strike, then I go with a plastic now such as a bull dawg, tiger tube, or cobra jig. In the olden days, just have a sucker out, and the fish will hit it if being brought in on a Suick! |

Location: Pulaski, WI | I fished a 9" weighted perch suick for quite a while on Little Green Saturday without any follows that I know of. What model and color were you using and how were you fishing it?
Thanks,
John |

Location: Albertville, Minnesota | Don't cut your figure 8 too short maybe, in other words, have nice big loops so the bait doesn't do something funny to turn the fish off (JMO). Otherwise down-size the Suick. |

| Eric:
When you get that Suick along side of the boat and have a follow, what yo need to do is start working it in a more erratic way. What I mean is in a normal figure "8" most people just go into a figure "8". What you need to remember is that when a baitfish is trying to get away it will do just about anything to accomplish this. So while doing the figure "8" jerk the bait hard left to right like you would when you first started bringing the suick in, raise and lower the bait in the water column and don't be afraid to pull it completely out of the water and then shove it back down in the water.. For this I only leave about 2 to 3 feet of line out and boy let me tell you when they hit you have got your hands full!!!!!
I hope this helps, good luck!
Musky Phil
