Click on the picture that is the third one down in the left hand column. Pretty hefty claim.

It looks like a fish that was in a issue of a magazine a while ago. It said it was caught and released out of season. It must have put on weight since then/

I knew I'd seen that pic before....check Pages 162-163 of the Second Edition of the Compendium of Musky Angling History by Larry Ramsell:

"Another huge musky was caught from the waters of Georgian Bay in the early 1990s before season. It was caught by an angler from Colorado who was trolling a #5 Mepps for pike when the lunker grabbed hold. An accurate measurement was not obtained, but he stated that it went nearly all the way across the rear floor of his boat which is over 5ft. The 1st photo I obtained was a poor off-angle shot that didnt do the fish justice. When I got to Georgian Bay I was able to obtain a photo that had been taken from another boat. Suffice to say that the fish appears huge! Best guesstimate among the experts who have viewed it is in the low to mid 60-lb range. Judge for yourself from the photo."

Great book for any muskie fisherman, but I think that the photo on the other site shows it wasnt a 78lb muskie.

I saw that same pitcher at the Pittsburg show this year. Bob Brenn had it at his booth. He told me that he know's the guy and the fish was about 68 inch.

I'd say 55" / 45lbs max. Nice fish though.

NIce fish, but I'd say no where close to 78 lbs. Look how he's holding the fish. I dont think a person of his build could hold 80 lbs above his head and out from his body.

Hey Todd,

I have a customer that has a summer place on Georgian Bay and I e-mailed him the link. I asked him to check it out and ask some of the guides he knows up there to see if this fish is legit. I will post his reply as soon as I receive it.
