With this weekend outlook calling for rain and cold, how do you stay warm and dry. What rain gear would you buy that breaths? I have a Storms suit it does resist the rain but you sweat in it, so you get cold.

Netman- I use the search function a lot- it works great. - "Rain Gear" ->

Nothing worse than being cold & miserable when the fish are just turning on.

Good Luck

I think $69.99 for the jacket and $79.99 for the bibs or vice versa.

That's a good price for the Gander Tech2O. I bought it last fall and love it.

I think regular price is like $99.99 for jacket and $89.99 for bibs.

I have rain gear made by Wall's. Bought it at Gander maybe 8-9 years ago, extremely good, breathable, doesn't leak still. Can't remember the price though. I want to say just over $100 jacket and pants, not positive... Anything with Goretex will also be good and breathable. The Wall's is not goretex, but something of their own I think...

Just got some Cabela's guidewear - bibs and jacket. (After coveting my son's pair.) Fished last Sat. in pouring rain ALL day and only had a touch of dampness my wrists. Shed water like a duck. They are a bit more than what everyone else is talking about though. But I've had cheaper gear in the past and have never been dry or satisfied.

Tech20 is great! I got poured on yesterday while chasing gobblers and was perfectly pleased with it! I suggest it to anyone.

Try REI. They have at least 4 different kinds to choose from. I think REI has great quality gear, in fact I'd challenge you to find higher quality gear. Though they are a bit expensive, if you join their dividend program, you pretty much get 8-10% back at the end of the year. I got a pair of breathable rain pants there for $75, so I'll get about $7 at the end of 1Q 2005.

I know that you truly get what you pay for. Any of the suits with Gore tex are the way to go. You'll probably have to spend a little more in the beginning but it will pay off for you. Often this time of year some sporting goods places get browning closeouts you can find pretty good deals thats how I got mine. You just have to look around. Q

Mr. Pike,

True, the Field and Stream is as you say, I have one from Dick's here in Wisconsin. Just be careful wearing a white tournament shirt (or any light colors) inside it because when you sweat it will bleed onto the white and then require dry cleaning the shirt.

I did forget one tip when buying rain gear, and some guys may think it doesn't matter, don't get bright colors like blaze orange, red, yellow..etc.. Go with stuff like green, blue, grey.. stuff that might blend a little with a dark sky a little better... Like I said, some may think it doesn't matter. A guide I fished with once got me convinced that it does matter....
