Location: St Cloud, MN | i was having some problems with my batteries holding a charge. when i went to check the water level, in the dual purpose starting/battery two of the cells had milky water. i'm guessing this is not good, but how does it happen and do i have to buy a new battery ? Thanks! | |

I think you have/had low water levels in those cells over time, exposing the plates to air and recharging/discharging
causing the plates to form excessive 'sulfating', plate errosion. In possible conjuntion with poor plate connections aiding
the deterioration.
The sulfate then hase flaked/fell off and has dissolved into smaller particles causing the 'milky' electrolyte.
You will probably need just to buy a new batt. Save your self a headache. | |
