Tom,
If you don't want crowds, then stay away from the only muskie lakes near large metro areas.I'm pretty sure the 2 you mentioned will be rather crowded.Check out some of the ponds west of the other 2. Steve

Trust me there won't be one musky lake in Southern Wisconsin that won't be getting pounded.

Good luck.

I may just stay in Minnesota and go pike fishing.

Wow, I can't imagine having to put up with fishing waters that get that much presure. Thank God Goergian Bay is only an hour and a half from my house. Sorry guys had to do it. Only thing that sucks is that I have to wait until the 3rd saturday in June to fish it. But thats alright with me gives em a chance to reporduce without getting bothered.

Thank god I don't deal with fishing pressure either!

Webster is so huge, it can easily handle the 30 boats that hit is every weekend. That only equals out to about 1 boat per 19 acres. That's plenty of room to fish.

I never go on opening weekend. It's usually nuts and I tend to hate the crowds. I usually
wait unit the following week and then take a day off from work to hit a lake of choice. This
usually makes all the difference. The time is near! I'm looking forward to another fun season on the water.

I'll be fishing alright. I'll be pounding walleyes and smallmouths on The Mississippi River and leave the lakes alone. Opening day for inland lakes always seems to relieve lots of pressure on the walleyes out on the river. However, it also signals the start of a seemingly endless string of bass tournaments every weekend. I'll stay out on the river until the pleasureboaters force me to load up the muskie gear and head up north sometime after Memorial Day.
Sworrall....hint,hint....nudge,nudge......Lake X still owes us and it's neighbor is also a good bet early. Think I need to see Dr.Lake for a checkup and an extended weekend.

Mike thats funny 30 boats on the whole lake, at times there are that many boats staging at a single ramp on the toilet bowl not to mention the boats that have seasonal moorings and the multitude of additional ramps.

I will be fishing Wingra in Madison. Just like to fish a numbers lake right away to get the monkey off my back. It always seems that the first one is the hardest to catch.

Me and Jonesi are hitting a west of Madtown pond on Saturday, then I'm on Madtown itself with a gentleman named Peter Gadd on Sunday. He might be buying the jacuzzi...it'll be a sad day, but all good things must end at some time i suppose.
