Hi Gang,
I am heading to Miami Saturday to help out with my Mom for a week, driving her to radiation treatments. She's doing much better and likely will be cancer-free after getting zapped for 6 weeks, a HUGE improvement after being told that a tumor (squamous cell) in her neck was inoperable. Dr Marx from Miami Cancer Center refused to give up on her and went in after it, got all of it out. One of my goals is to find the good Doctor and give him a big bear hug, because clearly he saved her life. It's nice to have prayers answered so plainly.

Anyway, next Friday I am free and thought I'd line up a fishing outing, I have heard it's kinda fun to go out Float Fishing on the big boats, basically they rig a bunch of rods and the guests take turns pulling in the fish, and it's cheap, around $25 or so for a half day. I'm not interested in keeping the fish, just want to get out and see what it's like to fish on the ocean.

I'm not all that interested in the huge fish, don't want to kill myself. And I'd rather use familiar-size gear. So, anyone have advice about what sort of fishing to do if a guy was in Miami with a free day? Or, has anyone gone inshore or offshore fishing in Miami and have a recommendation for a cool half-day out of South Beach, or something else in the area? I'm not bringing my own gear, so it would need to be something where rods and baits etc are provided.

I'm staying at the Miami Int'l Airport Comfort Suites, but can get around fairly easily. Also might consider renting a car for the day and hitting the everglades to chase tarpons, if I can pull it off (don't know much about that either but saw a really cool show last fall of guys catching tarpons on musky-like topwaters). I need to be back at the airport by around 5PM next Friday to head home.

Also, any don't-miss seafood places down there? (I am already planning a run to Joe's Stone Crabs)

Thanks,
Papa Joe
