hey all,

we're trying to settle on our opening-day plans (May 1) and right now we're considering Silver Lk (and/or Swan Lk) near Portage, WI.
is this a good option for early season?
any suggestions on fishing it that time of year?
how busy is it likely to be?

any help is much appreciated!

Silver lake is normaly A circus opening weekand , but it will give up some fish. Over the years colder springs have made for less action while warmer years with better early weed growth seems to concentrate the fish and make them a little easier to nail down. For baits small light bucktails in bright green with nickel blades , 5 to 6in twitch baits in perch or firetiger or small gliders like an undertaker worked slow .

If you come down get here early parking will fill up fast .

good luck maby see ya on the water
