Does anyone have questions about MatchFISHING. Remember there is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions! Post your questions, I will answer them....as I did on the below email:

So I take it this is a no fee just for fun tourney involving various teams competing on specified days with points given per fish. Does any fish count and how are the catches verified/witnessed beyond pics? What are the hours and I assume this is a random arrangement? One pole per person? Live bait? Trolling and casting ok (obviously up in Wisconsin trolling is often prohibited so they would be at a disadvantage)? What about the partner situation--can we change around some?

Thanks--

-yes, no fees, same day, points per fish
-30" or better is a points fish, using MI points
-rules for the day are whatever the rules are for the water youi are fishing
-we hope people will fish with the same partner, but scheduling can be tough, so one member of the team makes it the team on the water.

Sure!

Do I get to fish this for the 2004 season? Looks like my partner would be Keith again.

Is there a handicap for hillbillies? Some of us are kinda slow, and the schedule puts July/August water temps at the Cave and Green River in the red zone

No handicap for hillbillies. Hillbillies have equal representation of the organizing committee, through me. WE WILL HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS, lol.

SlammR.....This may seem like a dumb question, but do you and your partner have to fish together?

Gander, here is the schedule:

June 1 to July 31: Pool Play
*each team in each pool of three must find a time to match up against each opponent

August 1 to August 31st: Sweet 16
*all pool winners advance to the tourney format

September: Round of 8

October: Final 4

November: Face off for the Championship

*scheduling between teams is done by the team members.

This answer your question?

Sign up is the second Wednesday of May with competition kicking off June 1st!

Prizes will be given for at least first and second place, to be determined at this point.

Do you pair teams up according to location? How do you verify a catch?

Doe,
The beauty of matchfishing is that the two teams can be on ANY DIFFERENT lakes as long as they fish on the same day. The day prior to the match, myself or other MatchFISHING Team members will be emailing or posting on site an "item" which will be pictured in photographic proof to verify all catches for points for the tourney. The items are generally wacky kitchen items such as spatulas, rolling pins or going to the insane like umbrellas or lawn chairs (there is a classic pick of Richard Collin holding the SKINNIEST 50" muskie while sitting on the back of his boat in a lawn chair). Photos are required to be submitted within 3 days of the match date, and results need to be reported onto the site ASAP!

Does this pretty much answer the questions.....or just bring up new ones?

Slamr,
What about us guys down here in the Southern range. Last year, my last day on Kinkaid was June 16th.

I think I understand now...you just take a picture with the wacky item in the picture? So you can fish on total opposite sides of the country as your partner? What about the other people in your matches, do they have to fish the same lake?

Each team will be in one boat, with only 2 people fishing for points in that boat. The TWO TEAMS matching up can be anywhere in relation to one another.
Example:

Team Musky For Lunch (Slamr and Boro) vs. Team War Pigs (Ralph Florio and Joe Mellott)
Day: Saturday June the Xth, decided by both teams in advance
Start Time: determined by whatever time the teams each seperately decide to start fishing
Location: Musky For Lunch to be on Lake Webster in Indiana, War Pigs on Minnetonka in Minnesota
Item Assigned: a plunger
Results: Musky for Lunch scores on a 55" (Slamr) and a 40" (Boro)......War Pigs manages a 32.5 (Ralph) and a 31 (Joe)
Scoring: MFL totals 43 points (29 for the 55" [4 points for a fish over 30", then a point for each inch beyond 30"] and 14 for the 40") and War Pigs 12 points.
Winner: Musky For Lunch. Being that this is June they get a win for pool play, and carry their points with them. War Pigs take a loss, but also keep their points. MFL has a record of 1-0 with 43 points. War Pigs 0-1 with 12 points.
***pictures must be on site within 3 days, which would be the end of the day Tuesday, and results w/ or w/o pics need to be on the site ASAP if not the same or next day.

This making more sense now?

Sorry Rodney, unless you can find cooler waters, we just dont have enough teams this year to have a southern and a northern division. I would love to have been able to set something up to include people like yourself, but we just couldnt find a way to do it. IF you can find ways to get to cooler waters during the hot months of June/July/August somewhere, please find a way to participate. We just need to get more and more teams interested, and then we can run a southern divison that does their matchfishing March to June, then rejoins the tourney in progress in September....at least that is what I envision at this point. All I can say is that IF/WHEN we have enough teams from the south that they can make up a whole division, or at least an even number of pools, I WILL find a way to incorporate them!

I spent my early youth in extreme rural West Virginia. To prove it, I was always shooed out of the photo when they were making up those new fancy Foxfire books. Second, I know exactly what it means when someone says "Whitefaced cattle skiing, sure!" (nevermind the dingleberries and make dang sure you don't grab the bull's tail). So, anyway, I think we hillwilliams (say it loud, say it proud) should be offered some sort of an advantage, being, by some defitition somewhere, some sort of disadvantaged folk.

Cornbread, are ya with me on this one?!

I am new to the sight and just starting to get serious about Musky. I would like to join if someone with a boat needs an anchor! I am in the NW burbs of Chicago. I may have a couple of conflicts and am not sure how they are worked out. Will be out of town at LOTW from July 6 -12 and then on a cruise from August 14-22. Hope I can be part of this years fun!!!

Is there a handycap for the handycapped? Please remember that I'm fishing with a guy who was known in Ky. as "Fishless Mike".
Hehehe, just a thought
