Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I still like the old 7-inch Slammer twitch bait.
Bill from Slammer made up about 75 of these old twitch baits this past winter.
I still have not found a twitch bait that can do what this oldie but goodie can do.
What is you go-to twitch bait?

Some deep divers have an awesome twitch with the rod tip up and will stay up shallow and get crazy all over the place. The two I mentioned above will do that. |

| Weighted-to-suspend 7.5" Grannie. Suckers just sit there, dead in the water, and I can control the depth by how I hold the rod tip while twictching, high or low. Keep 'em up by the surface or get them down 8-10'. |

Another question on which consensus will never be reached.
Just to get philosophical for a minute:
1)"It's all in the wrist." The skill and technique of the user seems to be the major factor in twitching. Some guys could raise fish with a 6" length of tree branch with hooks lashed to it, and others -- like me -- couldn't twitch up a starving 'ski with a battery-driven oscillator in the lure body. That said, some baits are a better match for individual twitch styles, angler height, weight, wrist strength, rod stiffness and length [not Your rod, your Rod] etc.
2) Preference is based somewhat on random accident. Early success anoints a bait. We use more often and more confidently what we've had success with before. and therefore continue to have success, increasing time and confidence yet again. |

Location: Holly, MI | The old baby shallow raider that came in the metallic finishes was a very different lure than the new baby shallow raiders. They changed somthing including the finish because it peeled off. I have one in chrome/blue back and one in copper that looks like chrome.
If you have one of these oldies lying around in the back of the garage dust it off and give it a few twithches. You will see a very different lure than the new ones, they jump around and with the flat sides have more side roll and flash than most. Great Twitcher!

| USED to be the Grandma's or ShallowRaiders, but now that I got my hands on some Molly's, I don't think the others will ever see the water again. The little Molly has accounted for the only 2 fish in the boat so far this year already. It is beautiful and deadly!!! |

Location: Appleton, WI | I managed to get my dirty mitts on some Molly Baits also. Can't wait to get some them roughed up from some canines. The design, paint jobs, and hardware look pretty sweet. Need to just add water and some hungry muskies and I think it will finish-up the recipe. Definitely looks like a twitchbait that will find its time on the end of the fishing pole throughout the year. What I really like about it is that it's solid plastic and I won't have to worry about taking in water.
I also like throwing TR Twitchers and the good ole Crane. I've been lucky enough to get a hold of the Talonz Little Craw also. It has an action quite unlike any other twithbait that I've thrown. It's roll is very pronounced and its rise isn't as fast as other traditional twitchbaits.
catch ya later,

Location: Michigan | I should add Talonz Little Claws too. I picked up 3 or 4 of the floaters and the slow sinkers over the winter. Just used them this last weekend for the first time where I twitched up an 18" bass. This is a great little bait. I especially like the slow sinker and you can work it real slow and still get it to roll. Great paint jobs as well.
You can order them direct from Mike at http://www.fishall-lures.com/index.html

Location: Greenfield, WI | The 10 year old "retro" style 7" Slammers are hard to beat, but the new 6" Slammers especially in the show custom colors are great as well! As with any baits, the custom colors aren't anymore effective than the standard colors. When you like a bait color you tend to throw it more. You tend to pay more attention to it when you are using it. Both of these situations tend to translate into more action and more hook ups. |
